Pretty good overall
Created: 20/09/10
Post nuclear attack on US drama of a small Kansas town not directly hit. Good character development and many subplots. Gerald McRaney gives credibility to series and other actors, largely little known, acquit themselves well, particularly characters of Jake and Hawkins.
Some parts a little cheesy, particularly combat scenes although possibly explained by TV budgets and storyline of civilian fighters.
Series only went a little over one year, a shame. Good value only wish it had a full run.

An awesome product to show people how to be heroes when disaster strikes

Why I bought this product? Well, years ago, I watched this program when it was on TV, which for me, is a very unusual event, as I typically hate TV so much that I have not watched more than perhaps a couple hours of commercial TV over the last 7 years.
But this series was different, in that it presented not only a scenario that is all together plausable, but horrifyingly plausable. The parallels between what is in this series and what I see every day in the world is all too disturbingly similar and to watch how grass roots America could possibly survive such a horror, was deeply satisfying.
Then there is the refreshing change from the normal modern depiction of Men in America. Typically, in Main Stream Media, commercial TV; men are no longer held up as any kind of role model, with the exception of law enforcement types. Nearly every other Program you see today, depicts men as either total morons too stupid to tie their own shoe laces or come in out of the rain or total monsters who should be locked up for everyone else's protection. Only those who are some sort of cop or prosecutor are shown to be worthy of being role models.
When I was growing up, we had countless positive Male role models. Even the "Bad Guys" were often depicted as Anti-heroes, who had traits that could be respected, such as honor or defending women and children. Today, TV will not depict a modern version of something like "Dukes of Hazzard", where a couple of young men who had felony records for moonshine running, yet were basically decent and honest people trying to survive in a county with a crooked Sherrif and local government.
I have lived in Counties where the Sherrif's Department ran organized Crime, and let me tell you, it is no picknic. Even in my current home county, there is ancient history where Corrupt law enforcement officers raped, looted and robbed at will for over 70 years. Thank God that that problem was cleaned up over 50 years ago, or this place would be hell on earth.
To see So many positive role models of both men and women in this series, was like a breath of fresh air. It was like programming from back when I was a boy and IT WAS EXPECTED THAT AMERICAN MEN AND WOMEN, WOULD STEP UP AND DO WHATEVER WAS NEEDED FOR THEIR FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES.
THIS WAS AMERICA AS I GREW UP IN IT, WHERE THE AVERAGE JOE IN THE STREET STEPS UP AND BECOMES THE NEEDED HERO.

A great show

I really like this show. I recently watched this series on Netflix on demand. I recall when the show came out I thought it sounded interesting. However, I never watched it. I'm sure there were a lot of folks who did the same thing because the shows ratings were not so good and it only made two seasons. This is a shame. I have season two on order and can not wait to see that. I wish I had more seasons to watch.

Jericho

Love the movie Jericho! It keeps you wondering throughout and adds little pieces in at a time. Keeps you thinking. Great characters that are easy to relate to and makes you think about what you would really do in a crisis. I watched the whole first season and then watched the second season on TV. Now, I am hoping for a third season, I just cant get enough!

I am almost finished watching the first season and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SHOW!!! I believe most people would really enjoy it and say the same thing. A lot of great characters with several twists that keep you guessing. If this show came out today, it would most definitely be MUST SEE TV!!! I wish there was a Season 3,4,5,etc.!!
