you should pick up this title without delay

Nintendo 64 fans should pick up this title without delay and hope that Rareware's team of top-notch talent will continue to churn out even more games like this one for years to come.
Each of the sprawling levels has a unique theme and colorful landscapes, accentuating the feeling that you are traveling from planet to planet - not just from level to level. In addition, the music and sound effects really inject the proper mood for each level: foreboding music in dark, rainy levels, or bleeps and bloops for those high-tech missions. Rare even added many great visual touches (such as flies over an enemy's carcass), and impressive effects in night-vision levels (where everything turns shades of green) and in levels where you're swimming. Ranting and raving aside, the game is not without its minor flaws. As with almost any 3D adventure game, certain areas play havoc on the third-person camera angles. This becomes a slight problem when you are negotiating jumps - especially those that fall short, resulting in death or tedious backtracking. In isolated instances, enemies glitch up by running into boxes and sticking to them, making them easy targets. The other problems seem more a fault of system limitations than of the game itself. First, some of the backgrounds and textures look a little flat, such as in the forest stages. Second, it would've been nice in cinema scenes to have voices for the characters rather than sound effects coupled with text boxes.

A diamond in the rough game for Nintendo 64

This game is amazing, from start to finish. It seems like the game was directed to be a shooter game for kids from aroundage 8 and up, but is also graphicly awesome and fun enough to entertain adults. The crazy worlds set-up, are very unique. The gameplay and Cutscenes are absolutely amazing!
Only problem, like most 64 games, is that it lacked a fun multiplayer mode that wasn't just a 4-player shoot each other like Goldeneye. There was a Co-op, but you had to obtain all the pieces for a flying robot that could assist you. Then someone could play co-op multiplayer with you, but they couldn't move, only shoot on the screen as the robot.
While this game was amazing, it never got to see its true popularity that it deserved upon release. You can pick it up for cheap most of the time now, and is a very fun game. This was one of the first Third person shooters that I ever played, and the graphics were amazing at the time!
I still remember the good times you could have, mutilating an enemy with rockets, and watching them explode into millions of strange bloody particles all over the room. The sound effects got me every time as well. The sounds of the splattering and exploding of the enemies are very graphic! lol...
As a single player game, this game is just a good time written all over it. I can't really say that there are many games quite like it. This is a definite MUST OWN for the Nintendo 64 for me. I still have my box with instructions and everything for it. One of my favorites for the Nintendo 64!

Jet Force Gemini is a wonderful game by Rare, the same company that brought to life such classics as Donkey Kong, Banjo-Kazooie, and Goldeneye. Players take control of one of three playable characters, Juno, Vela, or Lupus. Each character has a unique ability to help confront the hordes of insects in each level. Run through multiple stages on their quest to confront the evil Mizar, a giant insect who has directed a large asteroid at the planet Earth! Collect weapons ranging from a plasma shotgun to an electric taser to save the teddy bear tribals in each level in order to acquire parts for a FTL spaceship.
Perfectionists will love replaying the many stages with every character in order to discover every secret. On the other hand, if you're looking for a quick run-and-gun game, this may not be for you, as the game can last for weeks. The controls can also be slightly difficult to adjust to, but customization options do exist. Overall, a great addition to your N64 library!

Jet Force Gemini - Great Fun For The Kid In All Of Us

The game 'Jet Force Gemini' has been one of my favorite games on the N64 since its original release date. The graphics are very good for the N64. The game is filled was numerous vibrant colored & detailed worlds to explore. You also have a wide varity of items that you can aquire in the game, as well as many interesting characters to meet. The games sound effects & music is pretty nice too! As, the game progress you get more powerfull items, not to mention more playable characters! Theres alot of reasons why one should get this game. Graphics, sound, vibrant color, are just a few to mention. The camera angle is decent too in this game. This game is easy for the younger crowd yet, the older crowd will love it as well, being there is so much to cover in the game it makes every new world just as exciting as the next. This game is a little on the different side but, in an excellent way! As, it caputures your attention from one minute to the next! The replay value of this game I belive is high, simply because this game is very lengthy and creates a challenge for any gamer who loves to take time maxing out the game. This game is great for gamers of all ages who like to take a detour on everyday and sit back and enjoy a game or two, or three, or four!

Jet Force Gemini, the forgotten gem.

This is one of the hardest games ever made for the Nintendo 64, and since much of the N64 fare tended to be for the kiddies, this game didn't seem to make many waves.
BUT, if you ever found yourself playing it, you would find that it became quite addictive, as good as any First Person Shooter for any other platform.
My young son and I have enjoyed this game thoroughly. I really like the way you can get "1.5 Player" mode unlocked, once you assmeble your little robot ally, half way through the game.
Why only the Good rating and not the Excellent? Two reasons, first, the controls are a bit touchy and sensitive, and sometimes difficult to aim well. You'll get used to this however. Second, the game is so friggin HARD. I suggest downloading a game "walk through" after your 3rd or 4th week of frustration. To finish the game, you need to find just about EVERYTHING there is in that game.
Still, the game is just flat out fun, and besides, is it just me, or is Vela kinda hot?
