After releasing three children's albums in five years, They Might Be Giants got back to their longtime blend of geek-rock and quirky pop with an "adult" EP in early 2011, followed later that summer by this full-length album. Those who initially purchased the EP, whose songs also appeared on Join Us, were allowed to complete the record for no charge.

CMJ JOIN US is a collection of short songs -- only two songs last longer than three minutes -- which allows the Johns to inhabit a range of different personalities and styles.

The songs are novel in both conception and execution....JOIN US is always fun, consciously clever and catchy...
