Johnny Quest IS Still the BEST
Created: 13/03/08
Animation like it never was became the dominate agenda for Hanna-Babbera Productions during the 1960's with such loveable characters such as Yogi Bear and Huckle Berry Hound.
But such was the first became Jonny Quest. This show was not your ordinary run of the mill animation. NO! Jonny Quest dealt mostly with spies, criminal espionage, robot monsters and computers and lasers.
And it was the first cartoon to run on all three major networks in its first four years. So tell me, what was the fascination that caught everyone's attention? Well it perhaps it was being that a any young boy could dream and become the hero and let ones imagination drift away to all the adventures we all dream about growing up?
Every Saturday morning thats what The Adventures of Jonny Quest did along with, His Father Dr. Benton Quest, Body guard and tough guy "Race" Bannon and Jonny's Best friend India native Haji along with Jonny's pet dog Bandit. They all carried us away to far away places and adventures around the world against evil foes and monsters, one such Monster was the episode THE ROBOT SPY created by long time Quest foe Dr. Zin.
Many of the adventures such as the LIZARD MEN, TERROR ISLAND and the INVISIBLE MONSTER were some of the classic episodes that our Quest heroes fought. Now these classic episodes are gathered together in this boxed dvd set for the first time because Cartoon Network no longer and Doesn't air these episodes any longer. And like Disney, Hanna-Barbera Production this decade will lock these animated classics into the vaults for who knows how long or perhaps forever.
So if you have that erge to share some of your childhood television memories with your kids or grandchildren, The Adventures of Jonny Quest Season One is one of those dvd classic television worth while boxed sets. PS long time actor Tim Matherson provided the classic voice behind Jonny Quest.

An animated adventure Icon

- Jonny Quest has to be the best animated adventure series ever--but I am biased. Watching these original episodes really brought the childhood memories flooding back. There are some things from your youth that you always remember with a certain nostalgic feel that cannot be duplicated by anything new. Some may say at age 47 I am a bit too old to be watching cartoons, but I dont care. You cant relive your youth, but these shows allow us to revisit the fun and adventure a young boy (or girl) got lost in whenever he heard that adrenalized Jonny quest music coming on. It meant so many things-- you knew you were going to travel to who knows what exotic location in the world, and see an imagination stirring combination of gadgetry and technology, with some of the coolest monsters and villians ever. I would get so caught up as a kid, and could not wait for next weeks adventure. This was good clean fun that stirred a childs imagination, opened his eyes to the fact the world is a big place, and tought some good basic life lessons at the same time. I bought this on a whim, and it turned out to be one of the most enjoyable videos I've seen in years. It was a real blast from a much simpler past, and if youre an old fan, or even if your not, I highly recommend it. I know todays computer generated animations are technically better, but they will never have the same feel and artistic quality as the hand drawn cells used back then. It was a lot more work to produce and draw a cartoon back then, and no computer animation is ever going to compare. Again, I highly recommend this set, especially to all the old fans out there like me.

Jonny Quest - The Best Animated TV Series Ever

Finally. The 26 episodes of the original Jonny Quest television series has been released in a really wonderful 4 dvd package. In it's time, it was new and original; and it's still as exciting with well-written stories today--decades later.
Kudos to Hanna-Barbera for creating this classic of television animation. There's been no animated show like it ever since. Five stars.

Jonny Quest original series DVDs

Just watching the intro animation for this series takes me back to when I first saw it as a kid. The series has got everything; giant robots, walking mummies, evil scientists, laser cannons, evil frog-men in old pirate ships, flying dinosaurs and men with jet-packs! Originally broadcast as prime-time animation in 1964 (not as a Saturday morning cartoon), the series has some classic 1950s-style science fiction elements, some great adventure, and, I have to admit, some cartoon cheese. But its all a fun ride, and for those who grew up with the adventures of Jonny Quest fuelling their imaginations, owning the series is a lot of fun.

Jonny Quest - The Complete First Season

# A big disappointment to hard-core fans was the fact that the original ending credits were not restored for the collection. Because the DVD set reuses the same end credits for 25 of the 26 episodes,
# Another issue that irked some fans is the censorship cuts and other apparently random edits made to some episodes.
Series creator Doug Wildey is not credited on 25 of the 26 episodes because the end credits for "Pursuit of the Po-Ho" are used on all the stories except "Double Danger." For reasons unknown, Wildey never received a credit on "Po-Ho."
# The end credits on the DVD copy of "Double Danger" are actually from "The Curse of Anubis."
# Dialog from "Pursuit of the Po-Ho" and "Monster in the Monastery" was intentionally removed from the DVD set.
# The "art card" showing the series title, "Jonny Quest," isn't used.
# The opening credits, aka main titles, are a hybrid of the two versions of the main credits used during the show's original run on ABC.
Other these few issue it is what it is. I have enjoyed watching these cartoons again, it's been along time.
