Joseph (DVD, 2005)

"Joseph" is a Biblically sound portrayal of one of the greatest characters in the Bible. This movie has brought to life Joseph, Jacob, the loss of Jacob's beloved Rachel, the jealously of his brothers and God's blessings on Joseph as he remains true to "his" God while a slave to the Egyptian Pharaoh.

In a time when Hollywood seems to have reached an all time low with the quality and content of movies produced, Turner Classics comes shining through with another in its series "The Bible Collection." Ben Kingsley as Potifer and Paul Mercurio as Joseph make the PERFECT cast members. Martin Landau BECOMES Jacob and we feel his pain and debilitating sorrow with the loss of his beloved wife and then son, Joseph. I cannot say enough about this movie. My husband, who refuses to watch most movies, has gathered our family together for 3 hours, 4 different times to make this a family event. WE ALL BELIEVE THIS IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER MADE! Not only a must see but a MUST OWN! Enjoy God's story.

This particular movie of "Joseph" has been my FAVORITE movie for over 10 years! As Christians know, stories of the old testament were for us and I can't count how many times I balled as the Holy Spirit would well up inside me reminding me of my own life. Times I've failed to trust God, and times that I did trust Him. The examples of the favor bestowed upon Joseph for his faithfulness is such an encouragement and call to all of us, that if we would just obey God in any circumstance, no matter how hard or impossible it seems, we will find victory in the end.

When Josephs heart is broken over and over, I could not help but to cry with him, and eventually, in my own walk, I too, did not let circumstance alter my faith. I learned to live with joy and peace in tribulation. "Yet will I praise Him, even in the mist of the storm"!

This is one of the best movies I've ever seen. Great acting supplements an exciting biblical story of one of the most glorious of God's heroes. The story tells of Joseph, starting with his early life of being sold into slavery. He never ceases to be faithful, however, and diligently serves God while being righteous. Eventually, he becomes one of the most powerful rules in the world. This is a fantastic movie for the whole family. This is definitely a message you want your kids to see!

First of all, I am biased because I love this series. I am systematically trying to purchase all the videos in the series. Joseph is one of my favorites. Although the writers take creative liberty about the Pharoah's household, I believe they still are accurate to the Biblical facts. Ben Kingsley as Pharoah, and Paul Mercurio as Joseph, as well as Martin Landau and Leslie Ann Warren are superb. Our family watched this movie over and over. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I love this movie. I saw it on tv not too long ago and knew I had to have it. Joseph's story in the Bible is probably the best story of love and forgiveness with the exception of Jesus' crucifiction. Joseph example of love and forgiveness shows us that no matter what bad things happens to us we can turn it around for good. We don't have to hang on to bitterness, it will kill us. I had been looking for one of these movies from the United States and found one from a very good seller. I want my grandchildren to watch this and learn from it-that's why I had to have it.
