Good movie. nice to get glasses with the dvd. action packed and funny.Professor Trevor Anderson receives his teenager nephew Sean Anderson. He will spend ten days with his uncle while his mother, Elizabeth, prepares to move to Canada. Good Clean Fun

When I saw this, I thought "just another remake". Not so. It assumes Verne's novel was fact and a modern day scientist follows the origional journty. Nifty special effects. Josh Hutcherson is great as the 13 year old nephew who goes along. He is jittery at first, but grows in confidence. I especially like what the movie does not have. No gratuitious violence, no psyhcopaths, noone gets killed, no political messages. Just good clean fun.

Journey to the Center of the Earth

This is a comedic rendition of Jules Verne's famous book. The forgetful, sloppy Professor, the street-wise teenager and the pretty, smart, talented female, pure Hollywood. This is a poke at the Indiana Jones series movies. Lot's of screaming, Disney-style roller coaster rides, unexplainable animals in an underground Jurassic Park. The 'blue bird' was a bit too much to swallow (pun intended).
Having said that, once you realized this was a typical Brendan Fraser (George of the Jungle) movie with a lots of silly stuff, it became fun to watch. Predictable, silly, lots of special effects made it fairly easy to finish.
The PG rating makes it suitable for the younger viewer.
