JUDGE & JURY by James Patterson

You cannot go wrong reading a James Patterson novel. I think I have read almost every one of his novels to date. JUDGE & JURY is his latest novel, and it is excellent. Patterson has a way of capturing the reader in the very first page! Then, it is truly a page turner.
In this novel, the two main characters are Nick, an FBI special agent in charge of organized crime and Andie, a woman juror. The novel begins with Nick capturing a notorious crime boss and quickly moves to the trial. Then, things start to get really interesting.
Packed with several twists and turns and lots of excitement, Patterson takes the reader on a nail biting journey searching for the bad guys. Nick and Andie make a wonderful team, and I found myself cheering them on. They do run into many obstacles, but the book ends well and it is certainly worth the trip!
It is written in the same manor as Patterson's Alex Cross series, and also his Lindsay Boxer series. Highly entertaining and well worth the read. I am always eager for the next James Patterson novel to get published.

I like Patterson's novels because they are suspenseful, imaginative,
and written in an easy style, with short chapters and clear writing.
The author doesn't overwhelm the reader with unnecessary details.
This particular novel grabbed me because I like crime novels that
involve courtroom scenes and twists and turns in the plot that keep
me guessing.
Another thing I like about Patterson's writing is that he develops
his characters just enough that they are believable and I find myself
caring what happens to them, at least the "good guys" who are victims
of or fighting criminals.
In Judge and Jury, Patterson introduces the reader to an FBI agent,
a juror who is mother of a boy, a wicked mobster who will stop at
nothing to frustrate the judicial system, and two hitmen.
There's plenty of action, suspense, even a little romance.
I liked the settings, both in America, and overseas, in which
the action takes place.

If you like crime novels with a little action and romance thrown in, this book is for you. The initial courtroom scenes are dominated by the menacing personality of "The Electrician," a truly evil mobster who is on trial for murder. One of the witnesses at this trial is a young FBI agent who has dedicated his life to putting the killer away for good. Before that can be accomplished, the prisoner escapes by wreaking havoc with the help of a few henchmen. The FBI agent then joins forces with a pretty female member of the jury. Together, they travel to the ends of the earth in a desperate gamble to take down the elusive killer once and for all. This book is a real page turner. The chapters are short, and the plot is fast paced, so you can read a lot at one sitting. Characters are developed well enough so that the reader can identify with them in their quest for justice. During the second part of the book, the setting changed to exotic locales, giving more color and excitement to an already action-packed story. Most certainly, Judge and Jury is Patterson at his best.

To all of you who have received a summons to appear on a jury; do not read this book until you have completed your civic duty. To the rest of you, Patterson, handles the juror. Through the trial, meeting the judge, and then the devasting scene in the courtroom. This is a legal thriller to pit the reader against a powerful mafia boss. Be prepared to spend the night reading this fast paced novel. I read this entire book in 6 hours. The next week turned back to page 1 and re-read the entire book to the finish. Explosive!!!!

This is one great read, Patterson really delivers again with a fast paced story and great characters. I normally don't like "legal" stories but this goes beyond the courtroom in New York... to other countries. With a foreign "hitman" and a big mafia boss,FBI agent and a female love interest and more action than you will think is possible...you won't put it down. Its a big book and I read it in a day...sorry to be finished!
