Just Cause (Sony PlayStation 2, 2006)

Great Game. Like Grand theft auto cuba. Instead of one large city, it's vast open woodland, with small cities all around. Villages, city's, government bases and rebel bases abound. The best part of the game is the fact that you have a 24/7 grappling gun at your disposal. As well as a 24/7 parachute. Grapple the back of a car and deploy your parachute, and the car pulls you like para sailing with a boat. You can determine the length of the rope from the grappling gun, and even shorten it up to the car and drop your chute and land on the car and take it over. Have a mission to destroy someone in a car and their getting away? Hit it with the grappling gun and land on top and take it over. Also one very nice feature is the ability to get picked up and dropped off anywhere you like. Have a mission 30 miles away at the top of the map and you don't feel like driving or flying for 10 minutes to get there? Just pick the extraction option from your pda and you can get lifted and dropped right at your mission briefing point. Also the agency you work for employs a group of vehicles to assist it's agents. You can have any one of these 4 vehicles dropped where ever you are at any time. The vehicles include a dirtbike which is all black and very fast. Also included is a 4x4 truck dubbed a prototype, it's slower but goes anywhere. There's a single seater gyrocopter that's pretty sweet and goes anywhere. And lastly there's a speed boat that is fast as hell driven by jet engines and looks incredible. And supposedly if you drive it in a str8 line for a certain amount of time on full throttle, wings come out of the side and it flies off like a jet. Never been able to do it though.

Basically you go through a series of 13 missions for your agency in an attempt to take over the current government and their dictator leader. In addition to that you can do numerous other missions for local cartels, as well as the local guerrilla groups and factions. As you gain respect from these groups and the agency as well for doing missions, you unlock more and more camps and bases. These are houses and compounds where vehicles might be, as well as numerous weapons you can pick up and health and ammo. Also there is always a place to save the game there as well. Some of the vehicles you can find at safe houses is: Military helicopter, Jet, 4-wheeler with rollcage, sandrail(dune buggy), Import car, Monster Truck etc...

Overall with the use of unlimited grappling gun, parachute, vehicle drop offs, and extraction pick ups, it's a great game. With rich game play and an endless amount of side missions to keep you busy it's great fun. With so many vehicles, tanks, military, sandrails, 2 wheelers, planes, jumbo jets, helicopters, military helicopters, f-16 jets, and so much more available for use, it's just crazy fun. I highly recommend it to anybody who has played grand theft auto. It is def. a game worth checking out. I hope this review has helped anyone looking to get the game. Very Well Marketed, a total Fraud.

Buying this game will make you want to go to Sweden and smack someone.

- Not as much detail in people as there is in the environments.
- Long, repetitive side missions.
- Not much to do in this massive world & not much variety.
- Weapons run out of ammo very quickly.

Just Cause is a true GTA-clone thrown into a large, almost lifeless at times world. There is so much space to cover and if you ever lose your car it will be a long walk to find another. Your parachute will come in handy as you travel. It will save your life more than once. Missions often feel repetitive and there is not much to do besides missions.

Rental at the most unless you just love GTA-type games more than anything else. 3.5/5

It a cool game you run around everywhere if you like far cry you'll like this game it lacks details but you have to notice ps2 cant handle huge environment with 360 graphics, but overall you get what you paid for plenty of vehicles to drive and some stuff to unlock and people stop comparing the xbox and ps2 yes we know xbox can handle more graphics but its still a fun game to play on ps2

I thought GTA on an island and it's not that far off. It's not perfect, there's a lot of nothing around but it's still pretty damn fun. If you want a sandbox game for your PS2, you could do a lot worse.
