Keurig Ultra B50 Coffee Maker
Created: 10/03/08
Before we purchased the Keurig I bought a Senseo for my husband last Father's Day. He really liked it, but didn't like the coffee that Senseo pods (too weak) and the only "dark roast" pods they made were very hard to find or sold out. Then, in month 7 it exploded....literally! The seal that kept the pressure in blew and water exploded everywhere. So,for Christmas this year we got this Keurig...similar concept as the Senseo but with a very important feature: YOU CAN USE A "K-CUP" WHICH IS KEURIG'S PERMANENT FILTER to use the coffee of your choice to make your java. Being coffee snobs, we like the ability to choose the brand and roast that we like. My only suggestion: buy 2 filters if you have more than one person who likes coffee in the morning, or if you tend to find yourself in a rush in the morning. This way you don't have to interrupt the brewing process while rinsing out the filter. (I will be purchasing an extra one to avoid our morning coffee traffic jam.)
The pods for the Keurig are expensive. If that doesn't matter to you, then the pods are a very nice convenience. My only caveat about the pods: if you like a "Starbucks" strength/flavor brew, go with DARK ROAST PODS and use the "small cup" brew strength. If you do, you just may kick your Starbucks habit...after receiving our Keurig I went a full month without visiting a Starbucks! Hope this review helps you!

This is a great coffee/tea/hot chocolate maker. I got this as a birthday present because I drink tons of hot tea and iced tea. There is a huge variety of K-Cups available but I love that you can buy a reuseable filter to use your own coffee or tea. Even though it was my birthday gift, the whole family use this machine. The water reservoir is kind of small for our big family but for most families it would be adequate. We use this machine at least 10 times a day and after having it for 2 months it is still going strong.
I have not used this machine to make coffee as I have a Nespresso Latissma that I use for espresso. I am not sure that the Keurig would measure up to the Latissma though this may not be a fair comparison as the Nepresso Latissma does espresso and the Keurig does american coffee.

We love our Keurig coffee maker. It is quick, convenient, and easy to use, plus each of us has our choice of coffee flavor. My husband's cousin first introduced us to this type of coffee maker on our trip to Maine. We could hardly wait to get home to order one. My 81 year old mother operates it without difficulty, and says it makes her feel so special to sit and enjoy her "coffee break."

Great for small uses

The Keurig B50 is a smaller yet totally redesigned Keurig. From the way the K-Cups go in, to the look of the machine - it's a totally different experience than the B100.
Differences:
Less noisy - the Keurig B50 is almost totally silent when it heats up and brews a K-Cup
It's much sexier in the design. The handle alone - to open and close the B50 gives us a feeling of quality and excitement
It brews 2 different cup sizes like Senseo and others.
It's the first Single Serve Coffee maker to have a LCD Clock!
The packaging and the entire product experience is so much better than earlier Keurig efforts. It's like opening a iPod for the first time.

#1 coffee maker in the world

We went to Texas to visit our daughter and husband this summer. They had this coffee pot. We bought one while still on vacation and it was delivered 1 day after we got home. It makes the best tasting teas and coffee. You can also use your favorite brand of coffee with it. We love the ease of the K-cups. They are perfect everytime and only takes about 30 seconds to make. These are perfect for one cup--but if you need more they are so quick you would probably have all you need done by the time you made a full pot. If you are thinking about buying one--go ahead- you will not be sorry.
Three years later and we still love it and have had friends go out and buy them because they loved ours. If it went up today I would have another one by this evening.
