King's Quest VI: Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow
Created: 03/01/09
King's Quest VI: Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow is the sixth installment in the King's Quest series of adventure games produced by Sierra Entertainment. Written by Roberta Williams and Jane Jensen, KQVI is widely recognized as the high point in the series for its in-depth plot, landmark 3D graphic introduction movie (created by Kronos Digital Entertainment), and professional voice acting (Hollywood actor Robby Benson provided the voice for Prince Alexander, the game's protagonist). KQVI was programmed in Sierra's Creative Interpreter and was the last King's Quest game to be released on floppy disk. A CD-ROM version of the game was released in 1993, including more character voices, a slightly different opening movie and more detailed artwork and animation.
The name of this sequel is a pun on the common phrase "here today, gone tomorrow". This pun is related to the sudden disappearance of Prince Alexander, who is the heir of King Graham. King's Quest III: To Heir Is Human also contained the word "heir" in its title and featured Prince Alexander as the main character.

Extremely fun to figure out all of these puzzles yet again!
Wonderful game, full of interesting characters and hours of fun.
The only downfall is that you are required to have the manual to the game to figure out a couple of puzzles. Supposedly a security feature for the game... lame. Luckily you can find the manual online if you try hard enough...

Computer Game Purchase

King's Quest VI was one of my favorite childhood games so I was thrilled to find it on eBay. I didn't, however, consider the fact that because the game came out in 1995 that my newer computer (2003) probably wouldn't run it. This, however, is clearly an error on my part and not about the game. Oh well, at least now it's a good souvenir of my childhood.

Awesome Classic

I played this game a long time ago when I was just a kid. I'm still waiting for it to come in the mail now to play it again, but from what I remember this was a tough game to beat. I recall it being challenging to find every correct item to solve the puzzles to advance further into the game. I did enjoy the story line though. I'm looking forward to trying it out again.

The game is a classic and I LOVE it. The problem lie in it's plausability. You really can't run this on Vista. You need to open the command prompt and type in E:\SETUP which would be hard for those who are not technically savy. It is in a small window and Vista does not have a 256 color driver so running it causes the colors to get real messed up. I would not buy this unless you own an older version of windows.
