Lopez wrote the songs, sang, played nearly all the instruments, and produced the project, yet the album has a cohesiveness and integrity lacking from many self-styled vanity projects. That's thanks mostly to Lopez's excellent songwriting and arrangements, which merge Neil Young-esque intimacy and plaintiveness with an edgy, shimmering psychedelia and a passionate, literate lyrical sensibility. The result is a quiet gem of a rock record.
