good for the price, clear pics and great video

I use mainly the camera, but the video is simple and crystal clear as well.
The pros- super sharp pictures, price.

The cons- sometimes a long time processing, telling me to please wait,
between snaps,
Closeup pictures are the same as all the kodaks, nonexistant. If you want
super closeups for ebay sales, forget it. 6 inches is as close as you can get.
Also no viewfinder so in bright sun you can't tell what you are shooting.

Summary- Great camera to just leave on AUTO and let it do it's thing. All the Settings like beach, fireworks, sports, don't work any better than just auto, and the manual settings are a hassle unless you really like photography, which this camera isn't for anyway. It's a point and shoot.
Kodak should fix the time between shots, and put an extreme closeup dial, and get rid of the extraneous manual settings, and it would be excellent.
Don't try to be a little of everything kodak, do one thing super good, take automatic fast crystal clear pictures. You almost have it.

Kodak EasyShare Z1285

Out of all of the cameras I have ever owned, this is probably one of the best. It has loads of great features including a dozen different settings for a great picture. Includes 5x optical zoom for getting close to an object still with a good quality image. The LCD screen is nice and bright even in the bright sunlight. Takes only 2x AA batteries which last for several hours (as long as you are using rechargeable batteries). The HD Video is fantastic, comes out nice, bright and clear, as well as good sound. Although the camera is nice well, built and stable; Unfortunately, this camera happens to be in the bulky camera family. It does not have a good grip or place to hold without accidentally pressing buttons. The cameras picture quality if very good, but is probably no different than a standard 5 megapixel EasyShare camera. The 12 megapixels are only good if you are going to use them for very large prints. This is also not a great camera for closeup macro photos. It will usually start going blurry, or refuse to auto-focus when the object is within about 10 inches......... With all of that said, if you are the type for taking good outdoor landscape photos, or perhaps portrait photos, I would definitely recommend this camera. Hope this review helps;....Harry.

Great Camera

Created: 10/03/09
I have been watching this camera for several months on another website waiting for the price to drop and it finally became affordable. I bought it from a seller on eBay because of the free gifts included. This thing does more than you can ever imagine, the features are endless and the picture quality is fantastic! I love being able to take a snapshot from a video, this is especially handy if you have small children who won't sit still for a photo, just record them on video, find a frame you like and take the picture you want. The perfect touch feature is also great for doing an automatic touch up on your photos. If you want good quality photos and a great price and an easy to use camera, this is the one to get!

Can't take closeups. Autofocus is always blurry on closeups and it's very frustrating. I have to put it on manual focus and still can't get within 6-8 inches. I Try zooming in and out and lots of fiddling around to finally get it. Real disapointing for closeups but takes other pictures great.

The battery situation is also frustrating. I put fully charged 3000mAh batteries in it and after about 10 minutes it tells me the batteries are low then shuts off for low battery. These batteries work fine in all my other devices. So I have 8 rechargeables on hand and swap them in when the others go dead. I need to get the AC adapter so I can keep shooting uninterrupted by constant battery changes.

Great camera just can't do closeups and eats batteries.

Got it used for 50 bucks so what can I say.

Kodak EASYSHARE Z1285 12.0 Megapixel

Created: 20/05/09
What I love about this camera is that is is incredibly small and powerful. To describe this camera with the word, "High Definition," is an understatement. As soon as the camera is set to movie and turned on, what the user will discover is a feature film-quality display, intoxicatingly rich in texture and definition so sharp, the user could faint. Delicious! Because of the power of this camera, any user really needs to learn about how to use lighting to get the best effects. The colors seem to pop, I mean POP! right out, BAM! It's like the user is on an hallucinogenic trip, but sober. Colors POP in great, rich detail. In comparison to older digital camaras without the 12 mp, this camera will leave the user in awe how well this small camera delivers so much professional quality. But like I said, to get the best quality pics and vids from this camera, take the time to learn something about how to properly use lighting. Taking pictures is exciting because the user can be careless as ever and get brilliant, I mean, BRILLIANT pictures. I decided to buy this camera because I wanted more megapixels to make quality videos for YouTube. The quality is there, not my talent. I am so satisfied, I am left breathless and in awe. There is so much power to this camera, I wondered why more accessories were not included by the manufacturer. This is a superb camera for the informed beginner and the lazy professional. OMG! This camara is simply delicious!
