Konica Hexanon AR 40mm f1.8 on Olympus E-510
Created: 08/10/10
I'm a big fan of the Hexanon AR lens, in the first place because of their high quality, and secondly because they can be modified to mount on any 4/3 dslr.
These lens are a affordable substitute for the quite expensive digital lens, and they perform amazingly well.
You'll inevitably miss the ease of AF (auto focus)and other goodies the digital lens offers, but with a bit of exercise that's something you can live with.
I can't find one single thing to dislike on these legacy glass.
Would I buy this lens again? Most likely, no! I mean who needs two of the same toy? But I'll surely buy another Hexanon AR lens with a different focal lenght, whenever the price us right.
Yes, I recommend trying out legacy glass on your dslr!!!

Konica Hexanon 40mm 'pancake' lens
Created: 12/06/10
This light weight, low profile lens by Konica is considered to be the sharpest manual focus lens ever made. My own experience with this lens on film camera ( Konica T-3 ) and now on Olympus DSLR proves that out. Images taken with this lens, is sharp, sharp, sharp. Color tones are typical of Hexanon lens - bright and contrasty. The focal length and light weight are also desirable features of this remarkably sharp lens. So is there anything negative about this great normal lens? Well, yes, there is. At the widest open aperture, f1.8, the image is bit soft. However this is common for most lenses. For this 40mm Hexanon lens, all it takes is one stop closer - at f2.8 to make the image sharp again.
All in all, this is one of the best lenses made by Konica.

Good optic for an incredible price

Beginning by the bad, I have two of this item and the two them have some dust inside, and, punctual light source in the night shows large and ugly glow. But, as the objective is easily unmount, the dust is cleaned in few hours. Also the images are sharp from f1.8 and from edge to edge so it is a very good lens.

Konica Minolta Hexanon AR 40mm f/1.8 fo 4/3rds MOD
Created: 15/07/09
You will know if you want one or not its just are you going to do the mod yourself or not.
This item is professionally modded. Focus is past infinity with this mod.
Remember the mod means no adapter needed on 4/3rds
I have no experience of other lenses of this model but this particular one is clean with snappy diaphragm and slightly stiff focussing...
Would I buy one again? -yes
