Minolta AF 28mm f/2.8 Lens
Created: 05/01/11
This Minolta 28mm f2.8lens is quite unique for its appearance. Though it looks very cute and small, it does quite a lot of neat things. Photo quality is outstanding due to the fact that it has an eye like us. Very useful lens for low-light pictures and sharp tact pictures from a strong/rugged body. When I received mine from auction from Ebay, on par with the 50mm/1.7. I loved its look. It worked flawlessly and very fast focusing on my Alpha a200 and a900. Pictures turned out OUTSTANDING!! Recommended. Get it for a good price on EBAY!! I've heard that the Minolta 28mm f/2 is better and more expensive because it's a better quality lens. But I think I'll stay with the f/2.8 for now until I can afford it.
Fast and sharp, has retractable lens hood, very compact and dependable for such a cute lens, simple to use, less weight and smaller size lens to fit in bag, and it's a strong lens, It is a full frame also, compatible with all of Sony's current and future Alphas.

The 28-70mm AF zoom lens was the professional grade standard zoom for Minolta's auto-focus film camera lineup. Today it is most useful on full frame Sony Alpha cameras (the A900 and A850). The zoom range is a bit odd for the other cameras with the 1.5x digital crop; the effective field of view becomes 42-105mm on those. This is a very high quality zoom; about the best you can buy, with great image quality. It is not as good as a prime, but then no zooms are. It remains among the best zoom lenses available for Sony Alpha. It is a bit pricy, but you get what you pay for.

28mm f/2.8 - my opinion
Created: 06/10/06
Got this len used condition from a lady here on Ebay.
Build quality is fair , no surprises , very small len, fixed 2.8 aperture is good for low light.
Image quality is OK , cant compare to monilta's 35mm f/2 but for a prime this size its ok , afcourse micro contrast is great compared to the zooms.
Optics here are far better then the zooms , this len is as sharp as a nife.
Autofocus speed is pretty slow, so its good for travel and stuff, but not to catch your kid in the move.
i give it 3/5
and it's worth the price, yes.

Wonderful Lens!

I bought this lens because this is a great time to get into analog photography, and what better way than to buy great used equipment. To think that many analog lenses and cameras are winding up as decorations in fish tanks is disheartening enough, but when you think about getting started in digital photography, there is no ceiling to the entry level price. Furthermore, I have yet to meet someone who really is happy with their digital camera. They are always complaining! Conversely, those who shoot with analog tend to know their cameras and have an inner peace knowing that whatever may happen to their scanned negatives (hard disk crashes?), at least they have the negatives and prints. I expect to be buying more analog equipment in the future. Thank you eBay!

Minolta 28-70mm f/2.8 G Lens
Created: 07/04/10
The Minolta 28-70mm F/2.8 'G' Lens has always been a most desirable lens over the years. This lens is wonderful as a walkabout lens, great landscape, also a fabulous portrait lens. It is NOT for action shots. It s a slow to focus lens (even on todays fast bodies)that is why its ideal for portrait work! Very sharp, Great color and brokeh you just can't go wrong if you buy this lens for the right reason!
Anyway you cut it...a must have for your bucket list!
