I bought this game looking for some fun and knowing how well Rockstar makes games. Loved the way they made the story, the graphics and the whole setting is great. 5 stars on that. The thing that just didn't get my approval was that the game became SO repetitive that it really turned me off. Finding clues was so ridiculous, you have to actually "run over the place" till you spot all the clues you need. Apart from that, it's a good game overall. But they really didn't polish that part. Could've been a game of the year. Also there's very little open-world stuff such as those you see in GTA.
Looks like they rushed the making of the game, could've dedicated more time to details. Seriously, it gets disappointing when you're doing the same thing over and over. If you like puzzle/detective games then you might like this for a while. If you like action-packed games GTA-style, DO NOT buy this trust me. The only action you get is car chases (and boy do they get repetitive)

This is an AWESOME game if you like DETECTIVE work or PUZZLES. If your looking for a game like GTA, wrong tittle, their way different. You play as Detective Phelps as he shuffles through various desks that assign him cases that you will have to solve, which works your way up the ladder in the police force. BASICALLY finding CLUES, CHASING bad guys, INTERROGATING suspects and having SHOOT outs at various points in the story is the actual game. CASES are engaging though sometimes REPETITIVE but trying to solve the mystery and following the storyline makes up for it. And the gameplay, story and open world adds to the fun. However, interrogating is a skill to master. Search the net for some tips. So if you think you can enjoy investigating a crime scene and questioning suspects for clues/or the truth with various chases and shot outs, then this is your game.

For all of its attention to detail, L.A. Noire hits the occasional false note. For instance, the way people you pass on the street constantly comment loudly to nobody in particular about having seen you in the papers or indicate that you could use a bath is awkward, and it sticks out like a sore thumb in a world that tries so hard to be believable. But this is a minor nitpick with a game that gets under your skin the way few games do. L.A. Noire's length can vary significantly, depending on how many street crimes you respond to and how much of your own driving you do, but in any case, the 21 story cases make for a complete and satisfying experience. You come into contact with the seamy side of the movie industry and with major players in the gambling racket; you meet working stiffs and powerful businessmen; you encounter low-ranking mob thugs and Mickey Cohen, one of the most powerful gangsters in Los Angeles at the time. L.A. Noire is a unique game with a terrific sense of period atmosphere, absorbing investigation mechanics, and a haunting tale with plenty of moments that would be right at home in a classic film noir. Those smoky nights spent listening to jazz at the Blue Room, and the price you paid for them, will stay with you long after you've retired your badge and gun.

Another Rockstar hit where you take place as a detective solving all of los angeles problems. A great single player game that takes you through addictive crime scenes only for you to interrogate witnesses and search for clues. With the new face scanner that rockstar has implemented facial features look more realistic than any other game out there. As well as using the same engine as the GTA series you still get the freedom to roam the city of LA when you don't feel like going to your next scene. A recommended buy for people who been looking for that great story, or a long rent to experience all the features.

The game takes place in 1947 Los Angeles, a city of glamour, fame, and wealth, but also where crime, vice, and corruption are rife. The player assumes the role of LAPD Police Officer and later Detective Cole Phelps.[22][23] The game starts with Phelps as a uniformed patrolman,[24] and follows his career as he advances through the police department bureaus of Traffic, Homicide, Vice and Arson. Instead of missions or levels, each new desk gives the player a new partner who will help Phelps in his investigations. After each case, Phelps will receive a rate of 1-5 stars depending on how he does on both interrogations and searching for clues. In some cases, you will find newspapers. Besides reading the story, the newspapers show short cinematics telling what the story is about. The game is fun and has many levels which gives you plenty of time to catch the good storyline.
