Movie trailer and editorial reviews

"Shyamalan delivers. Credit the director for emphasizing the film's multiple fight scenes, which crackle, particularly for a kids' movie."

I just want to start this review off by stating that I have never seen the original anime tv series/movies. However after watching this mess of a film, I don't want to watch them either.

An "Airbender" called Aang (pronounced "uh?") who has been buried under ice for 100 years, comes back to life. A group called "The Fire Nation" does not like this because Aang can reunite all four elemental parties (fire, water, earth and air) to peace, so they set out trying to capture him. Also trying to capture Aang is Prince Zuko who wants to take the airbender back to his father to prove he is worthy, this proves to be easy as the airbender is capture numerous times during the movie.

The thing is, this film has very little going for it. The characters are shallow and you don't care about them. The plot is horrible, the action is stunted and the acting is pretty darn bad. Basically you have a bunch of people (mainly kids) standing around doing Tai Chi while a whole mess of special effects go on around them. Sure, they look pretty but special effects alone cannot make up for the lackluster plot, acting and a general lack of charm. If you liked the original anime, no doubt you have already seen this and have your own opinion, speaking for somebody who went into the movie with a clean slate, I can heartily recommend that you avoid this like the proverbial plague.

Literally should be the last Airbender

Blu-Ray transfer was great. Story line was good if they would of finished it, at least to the point of part 2. But they never billed this to be a 2 part series and that is what made it so disappointing to me. There were even scenes that were shown during the trailers that wasn't in the movie. I love cliff hangers but not being dropped of of one. This movie just left to much at the end. I DON"T LIKE THAT! I wish I would of rented this one first before buying!

I have seen and own all the cartoon versions of this movie. The special effects were excellent, the acting was very believable. I did not like that they changed the pronunciation of the names. That is not in standing with what had been originally done. The storyline followed Book 1 with some twists and turns that made the movie new. I would recommend this movie to any fans of the original cartoons.

This was an outstanding movie. Will watch again and again. I have the DVDE and watched it at the theaters in 3D. Loved all the action without the blood. Choices were made and mistakes were made. Part of life.
