    Publisher's Note
Kevin J. Anderson delivers an epic story of the final days of the planet Krypton before it explodes. The novel chronicles the politics and betrayals that blind both heroes and villains to the coming disaster, including the uprising led by General Zod, and culminates in the escape of a single infant child.

An account of the tragic destruction of Superman's home planet depicts the lives of his parents, Jor-El and Lara, while giving insight into the political factors that doomed the planet and paved the way for such villains as Brainiac and General Zod.

Excellent Insight into Relationships and History

    Created: 10/07/08
I didn't know what to expect. Having been a Superman fan since 1976 I have read everything on which I could lay my hands. This novel was a fantastic amalgamation of Krypton lore from the comics, the movies, and the T.V. series. Don't believe the previous review, it is not a comet that destroys Krypton. Read through to the end. Anderson poured a wonderful foundation in the first "act" of the book, beginning before Jor-El and Lara had met. We see how evil Zod really was, how Jor-El picked Earth, and many more wonderful surprises which I'll refrain from disclosing here (including the beautiful combining of Kryptonian Crystal Technology and Technology familiar to those loyal to the comics).

The "Clear Up All Continuity Issues" Book Epic Fail!

    Created: 29/11/09
The opening of this book states that there are many continuity issues with the history of Kal'El/Superman's home world and it's destruction. Was Krypton an unstable planet? Did the red sun explode? Was it a war lead by Zod? The book is supposed to set all this and more straight (so it claims) However, it clashes with the movies, comics (old AND NEW!) and Smallville. For a book that was supposed to set history clear it fails and is a big waste of time.
