Feel-good romantic comedy
Created: 24/06/10
Amy Adams plays a young woman whose boyfriend of four years won't commit, so she flies to Dublin to propose to him. According to tradition, women are allowed to propose on February 29 (leap year). But the plane has to make an emergency landing due to bad weather, leaving Anna (Adams) stranded far from her destination. An attractive young Irishman named Declan helps her out. Is there any doubt which guy she winds up with? But the journey itself is the whole point of this and other romantic comedies, starting with IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT...and LEAP YEAR pays homage to that classic film with the obligatory Oh-no-we-have-to-share-a-bed scene. Predictable? Yes. Enjoyable? Yes. The leads have great chemistry. Amy Adams is so charming and talented she makes any film worth watching. A must-see for fans of frothy romantic comedy with no sex scenes.

A thin plot but a good movie
Created: 01/06/10
Amy Adams (Enchanted) stars as a successful women who has been waiting for years for her boy friend to ask the big question. When she thinks he is finally going to ask, he doesn't. He leaves for Ireland and she follows him with the intention of taking advantage of a family tradition that on Leap Year a women can ask the man to marry her. She meets another man and is now having second thoughts about who she should ask.
Adams is a very good actress for this type of movie and she plays the role very well. The plot is pretty thin and follows pretty much exactly what you think it would.
This is a good family movie for those who like love stories that have a thin plot.

Aye The Charm of the Irish!

This is a good date movie, my wife called it "uplifting". Although I found myself in need of a little more suspension of belief that someone could say "I do" to someone one day and then decide her true love lived in Ireland and then say "I do" a second time. But hey, get past that and it is a good heartwarming story. You know my doctor looks a LOT like Amy Adams and I'm Irish... well, eh, we're both married and one "I do" was enough for me. But see the film it's charming. I do think I did the right thing waiting for it to be less than $20-something. But below/beyond that, it's worth it.
