The laid-back, largely acoustic folk-pop of Hootie & the Blowfish was never that far removed from contemporary country in the first place, so only the fact that Rucker is the first major African-American country star since the heyday of Charley Pride makes the stylistic crossover out of the ordinary. First single "Don't Think I Don't Think About It," a Top 5 hit on the Billboard country charts even prior to the album's release, makes clear how comfortable Rucker is with the blend of the Eagles and the Dixie Chicks that is contemporary country radio, and tracks like "History in the Making" and "Forever Road" are equally fine examples of the form.

I mostly liked the CD because I like Darius Rucker period. I was curious to see what his foray into country would sound like, my not being a big country music fan. I was pleasantly surprised. There was very little I didn't like about the disc. I really liked "Don't Think I Don't Think About It". I couldn't get itt out of my head the whole day the first time I played it. I think my favorite track is "It Won't Be Like This For Long". It took me back to when my daughter was a baby. It was worth the money and the listen. I look forward to his next CD in this genre.

Learn to Live by Darius Rucker

Created: 29/11/08
I had never even heard a Hootie and the Blowfish song before. Then I
saw Darius on the Country Music Awards and I LOVED his song "Don't Think I
Don't Think About it". I thought both he and the song were terrific.
So, as always when I discover someone or something new I look up the person or thing on line and learn more. I found Darius' CD on line and ordered it. I love the CD. Darius has a clear, beautiful voice that transcends the race
barrier that so many people think SHOULD exist in country music.
I have been a country music fan since I was a kid (I'm now 49). I
loved Charlie Pride and Cleve Frances (I may have misspelled his name). Race
has never played a part in music for me, country music or any other kind of
music. A great voice is a great voice.
Do yourself a favor, purchase this CD and enjoy it !

Darius Rucker - Learn to Live CD

Created: 24/04/09
I have been a fan of 'Hootie & The Blowfish' for years and since Darius Rucker has decided to do a Country single, I could not resist buying it. I was very pleased with the CD as Rucker's voice is one that would sound great whether it be R&B or Country.

Darius Rucker - Music Genius?

Created: 07/07/09
This man who brought Hootie and the Blowfish to instant fame is a genuine heartfelt songwriter who is not afraid to pt himself out their in all of his lyrics. This album and it's songs have already gathered all of his country fans, but a lot of the fans of "Hootie" as well. This man is a genius and his talent is far reaching and I hope he hits the stars.
