Album Notes
Led Zeppelin: Robert Plant (vocals, harmonica); Jimmy Page (acoustic, electric & pedal steel guitar, background vocals); John Paul Jones (organ, bass, background vocals); John Bonham (drums, tympani, background vocals).Recorded in London, England and New York, New York in 1969.Remastered U.K. edition features LP-style gatefold packaging. From the first grinding notes of the famous vamp that introduces "Whole Lotta Love," LED ZEPPELIN II announces for all to hear that they are the definitive hard rock band of their generation. But before the listener can even settle into the groove, things takes a hard left turn into a spacey new rhythm, exotically flavored by Page's droning feedback and innovative use of a violin bow. By tune's end, Zeppelin has repeatedly toyed with the listener's expectations. This subversive quality distinguishes most of the arrangements on LED ZEPPELIN II, as in the soft/hard dynamic shifts of "What Is And What Should Never Be," the gospelish mood of "Thank You," the rocking vamps and funk rhythms of "Heartbreaker" and "Living Loving Maid," and the country music echoes of "Ramble On." And in their appropriations of source materials from Howlin' Wolf, Robert Johnson, and Sonny Boy Williamson, Page and company continued to mine the rich vein of the blues.

I Love Classic Rock

Created: 04/03/07
I bought the CD for one song, "Thank You" and ended up listening to the whole CD for two straight weeks. I can't believe I missed out on this kind of music for soooo long. It's got something for everyone. I can't wait to buy more of their stuff. If you like drum, guitar, bass, vocal... then you won't be disappointed in the least. If you like Classic Rock then this is a MUST have CD. I consider this CD my first lesson in Classic Rock, before this I'd never reeaalllyyy been exposed to it, now I can't get enough. I'm sure people think I'm nutts when they see me rocking out at the stop light, but I don't care, the music is just to good to not move along to, and there's no such thing as turning it down. Trust me, buy this CD or any other Zeppelin and you will not be disappointed, just make sure you listen to it more than once, it takes a couple times before you really appreciate them, but I warn you, once you do, you will be addicted for life, but what a great addiction it is:)

The Ultimate

Created: 06/04/08
This is perhaps the ultimate Zeppelin album, and one which a Zep fan would have already owned for years. Recorded mainly around the U.S. while on tour, it contains many of the early classics, "Heartbreaker", "Whole Lotta Love", etc. It is a bit more straight forward rock and roll than the first album, which sounded more bluesy, and even psychadelic at times.

Awesome

Still powrful Rock & Roll after 30 years plus. Nearly their greatest work. Psychodelic acid rock meets "thunder-lizard" bass-heavy blues.
