Fun for the Whole Family
Created: 08/07/08
The second installation in the Lego series has much in common with the original (Star Wars): good, clean family fun; lots of 'replayability'; plenty of characters to unlock and items to collect; and Han Solo.
Han Solo?!
Yes, Han is an unlockable character in the Lego Indiana Jones Trilogy, but he's not the only one. Unfortunately, the unlockable characters have very little use in this game, unlike the Ghost of Obi-Wan, et al., in the previous installment. In fact, the secrets and cheats in this game are nearly useless, even if they do add a little more flavor to the game.
Like Lego Star Wars, the Indy game has plenty of puzzles to keep you guessing, lots to explore, and various character types to choose from. Also like Star Wars, Indy is buggy. Count on resetting more than once or twice because necessary items disappear, seagulls don't fly right, and any host of problems. The good thing is, you don't normally mind playing a level over (in fact, these games are designed so that you play each level at least twice).
Minor problems aside, this game has that elusive fun factor that many better-designed games sorely lack. Once you get used to the somewhat wonky control scheme (which way do I jump, so I don't fall into the pit for the fiftieth time?!), gamers of any skill level can beat the game and have a whole lot of fun doing it. These Lego games are a great way to bond with the kids or spouse - you'll find yourselves talking about it and thinking about playing again throughout the day.
Five stars out of five, with the aforementioned caveats (bugs, controls, nearly pointless secret characters and levels).

Great inexpensive game - better than Wii version.

I have played the Wii, Play Station 3 and Xbox 360 versions. I like the Xbox 360 version best. All the versions are fun, but I like the controls best on this version. I love that you can pickup other peoples weapons. And you can use the whip for doing special moves. And on free play pick your favorite character. It is a funnier and easier version. The best Lego game yet. I think it is better than Lego Star Wars, Lego Batman, and Lego Rock Band. But all these Lego games are awesome!

Lego Indiana Jones Xbox 360 Fun!

This game is fun. It's a kickback and relive a favorite movie through the genius Lego theme game. You can play through the story, stack up some money, then go spend it on characters that can help access certain areas Indy and others can't. You can't save in the middle of a level, but they aren't too long. Music from the movies, scenes you remember (with the Lego humor spin), and fun, easy on the eye graphics. Wanna break from tense online fps'? Just wanna dive into a simple world and pretend your Indian Jones?...this is perfect for you.

Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures

I bought this game for the XBox360 and I must admit it is a VERY fun game to play! It covers the first three Indy movies and holds a lot of surprises throughout the game to keep you interested in it. The game encourages you to look around and not just press to get thru the boards to be getting thru it. You have 10 treasure chests to find on each board, and you have to collect enough studs/coins to become a 'true adventurer', and a hidden mail box that you have to mail back to the mailroom at Indy's college. As of writing this, I have been thru a lot of the boards more than once going back and finding different things that I need to get gamer points and to complete that particular board. After completion of each board and if you get true adventurer, you open free play which allows you to play the board again using a variety of characters and you can change to whatever character you need at the time as well. I originally bought this for my two sons, but once you start playing it, you become hooked at trying to find everything you can get! I certainly hope that Lego keeps finding movies, shows or whatever to put into game form using the Lego characters. They have a good thing going. Clean games, fun games, and games that keep you guessing and looking constantly! A true gem! I highly recommend this game to anyone and everyone! If you're looking for a fun and challenging game, this is it, and it is total fun for the entire family as well!

Great game for children!!!!

My 3 year old son loves this game. It is easy enough for him to play, but difficult enough to keep him interested. Even my husband and I enjoy playing with him. It has the option to play alone or with a friend. It also has some learning challenges in it like pattern matching and memory, and encourages teamwork. It is not too violent. It is the best game for a child around preschool age in my opinion.
