Album Notes
Personnel: Bob Minner, Byron Gallimore (acoustic guitar); Denny Hemingson, Darren Smith (electric guitar); Dean Brown (fiddle); Jeff McMahon (Hammond b-3 organ); John Marcus (bass instrument); Billy Mason (drums); David Dunkley (percussion); Greg Barnhill, Wes Hightower, Russell Terrell (background vocals).Additional personnel: Faith Hill (vocals). On his first album in nearly three years, Tim McGraw delivers more of the rock-influenced country that has made him one of Nashville's biggest stars, but in a more reflective, at times almost somber, mood. The title track sets a tone of heartbreak and unspecified desperation that's amplified through the album's other 12 songs. Even the traditional duet with McGraw's wife, the eternally sunny Faith Hill, is darker than usual: "I Need You" flirts with themes of addiction and helplessness, as does the rock-edged "Between the River and Me." In this context, the album's first track and leadoff single, the Big Kenny co-write "Last Dollar (Fly Away)," has a slightly weary vibe underscoring its good-times surfaces. Other highlights include the respectful tribute "Kristofferson," a version of Lori McKenna's "I'm Workin'," and the powerful "Nothin' To Die For," which encapsulates the undercurrent of desperation throughout the album as a whole. While not a cheerful listen, LET IT GO is a complex and ultimately hopeful album that ranks among McGraw's finest and reveals a previously unknown artistic depth.

Good CD, GOOD SONGS

Created: 04/04/07
This is a very good CD. You may buy the CD because you want the song Last Dollar (fly Away) but this CD has much more to offer. A lot of slow songs, but also very good songs.

My favorite songs on the CD are Let it Go, Suspicious, Between the River and Me, Train #10, and I Need You, which is a duet with Faith Hill. All of these songs are very good and I have been listening to this CD on Repeat all day. Between the River and Me is my FAVORITE song. It is a good song with a good rhythm to it.

Overall, I would give this CD a 5 out of 5. If you like Tim McGraw, you will love this CD. If you like FAST BEATS, INDIAN Outlaw style music then this is not the CD for you. But if you like good, country music then you definitely should purchase this CD.

NOT GREAT

FOR SOME REASON I LIKE FLY AWAY, DON'T USUALLY LIKE THAT KIND OF SONG CONSIDERING IT WAS WRITTEN BY THE TREE HUGGIN HIPPIE BIG KENNY OF BIG AND RICH. MUCK LIKE TIM'S LAST 3 OR 4 ALBUMS, KIND OF SOFT, IN MY OPINION HE HAS HAD A GOOD ALBUM SINCE EVERYWHERE, AND THAT WAS BEGINNING TO SHOW HIS SOFT SIDE. I LIKE THE MORE RUGGED TIM MCGRAW FROM ALBUM LIKE ALL I WANT SONGS LIKE INDIAN OUTLAW, RENEGADE, AND DOWN ON THE FARM. I GIVE THIS ALBUM A C-.

Let it Go CD by Tim McGraw

Let it Go...do just that. don't buy it. This CD is a big disappointment, CD had two really good songs that we've all heard on the radio stations. But all the other songs were lame. Based on drinking and sorry life wrapped up around that theme of being a drunk and having addictions. He better stick to singing with Faith.

Good - but not his best!

Created: 30/09/08
It has some really good songs on it - like the duet with his wife Faith but it did have a lot of songs that just grabbed you. There was some variety in the types of songs but I found this album did not speak to me as much as his earlier work did. It was still a good album - but as I said it isn't my favorite!
