LG V194H DVD Player

I bought this LG DVD player/VHS VCR combo thinking the remote for my LG big screen would work with it. Wrong. It doesn't. Ditto for the LG V194H remote. It works only partially. Like it turns the TV on and off. That's it. This same brand incompatibility is idiotic, incomprehensible and disrespectful to consumers. That was the first disappointment. The second disappointment is the playback picture quality in both DVD and VHS mode. To put it bluntly it sucks. My old Panasonic is way better and it's more than ten years old. Then I went out and spent 40 bucks on an HDMI cable thinking that if I upconverted the signal the playback quality might improve. Wrong again. The HDMI output on the LG is a scam. When you plug it into any HDMI input on your HD TV the playback quality is no better. Bottom line: Stay away from LG (Phillips) products. It's a big name brand with noname quality.

I bought this to replace a malfunctioning DVD player and an old VCR. As a side benefit, the fact that it only takes one connection for both the DVD and VCR means that it is easier to hook up to my old TV and stero.

The VCR does not have all the bells and whistles of expensive players, but it is more than adequate. The DVD player seems to be very well equipped with features.

It also has a slot for memory cards, something that I have not tried out. The manual is very good, and the remote is well thought out. The machine looks pretty good as well. Since it is not a cheap made in China product, I have high hopes that it will be long lasting and trouble free.

it's working very well. bought this machine because i have many vcr tapes that i had previously recorded and also have a fair amount of vcr movies given to me.

I LIKE THE FACT THAT IT HAS THE SAME NUMBER AND TYPE OF OUTPUTS AS MY TV HAS INPUTS. IT GIVES ME LOTS OF CHOICES FOR SIGNAL QUALITY.

Product is compact and easy to set up. I haven't gotten to all the features yet, but the basics are working fine.
