Album Notes
Fleetwood Mac: Peter Green (vocals, guitar); Jeremy Spencer (vocals, slide guitar, guitar); Danny Kirwan (vocals, guitar); John McVie (bass); Mick Fleetwood (drums).Additional personnel: Nick Pickett, Christine Perfect, Eddie Boyd.Recorded live between 1967 and 1971. Includes liner notes by Mick Fleetwood and Stephen Davis. Before they came to virtually define melodic Southern California rock in the late 1970s, Fleetwood Mac was a UK-based '60s blues-rock band, their style fueled by the electric American blues of Elmore James and Muddy Waters. Back then, the Mac's style was defined by the scorching guitar and impassioned vocals of Peter Green and the keening slide guitar of Jeremy Spencer. This three-CD set finds the band cutting loose on some of their favorite blues and early rock & roll songs, recorded live at the BBC studios between 1967 and 1971.

Editorial Reviews
8 (out of 10) - ...at the peak of the Jeremy Spencer/Peter Green-led line-up, they were probably the crown of the British blues boom, arguably even better than Cream....there's still a grounding in Chicago blues styles and some almost ethereal guitar licks from Green...
NME

...this two-CD collection of radio performances makes a convincing case for the Mac as...one of the greatest bands of all time, period. Between Green's breathtaking command of soul, Kirwan's way with an old-timey melody, and Spencer's apparent ability to imitate anyone...this was one versatile bunch...
Musician (19960801)

...the only real genius of the British blues movement, a man who could write, sing, and play the blues as if his life depended on it...
Dirty Linen (19960601)

...captures over two discs the full range of this astonishing quintet: letter-perfect Elmore James shuffles, heartfelt Buddy Holly Tributes and epic hard-rock originals....Green was the most melodic and understated of guitar heroes...

Live at the BBC by Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green

Created: 20/01/10
This album is the incarnation of Fleetwood Mac before Christine McVie and Stevie Nicks joined the group. This is the Fleetwood Mac I first heard and loved. It is more country rock and blues than the smooth music of their later period. They did a lot of other peoples styles and material and it sounds somewhat raw compared to their later efforts. At the time they did this work, it was raw because a lot of these styles were just being developed. I love it. If you want the feel of a sixties concert this is a good album.

Great archive album. If you are interested in the Blues done Brittish style, this is a great album. This album reflects the full range of influence that Fleetwood Mac was inspired by. Too bad Stevie had to ruin a good thing like this. Peter Greene, thanks for your good work here.

Awesome recording of the original Fleetwood Mac. British Blues at its best.

Really excellent recording by a great British Blues group. Everyone knows Mick Fleetwood and John McVie from later Fleetwood Mac, but Jeremy Spencer, Founder Peter Green, and Danny Kirwin were the heart and soul of Fleetwood Mac. As they gradually left the group and were replaced, a different sound emerged. This cd is the real raw power of British Blues. Also a surprisingly excellent job of engineering this to sound like it could have been recorded yesterday.

Peter Green Live At The BBC

Created: 01/09/09
Certainly not the best that Peter Green has done. I was very disappointed in the production. I can only think they were stoned.
