Album Notes
LIVE! BOOTLEG has been digitally remastered using Sony's 20-Bit Digital Super Bit Mapping process. This release includes new deluxe packaging with original release liner notes, photos and artwork.Aerosmith: Steven Tyler (vocals, piano); Joe Perry, Brad Whitford (guitar); Tom Hamilton (bass); Joey Kramer (drums).Additional personnel: David Woodford (saxophone); Mark Radice (keyboards, background vocals).Engineers: Lee DeCarlo, Jack Douglas, Jay Messina.Recorded live between 1973 and 1978.In addition to being one of the greatest American hard rock bands of the '70s (Kiss being the other one), Aerosmith developed a reputation as one of the fiercest live acts thanks to a grueling tour schedule. Inspired by the countless unauthorized live recordings circulating at the time, the band put out LIVE: BOOTLEG, a collection of performances recorded between 1977 and 1978, in addition to a pair of early cuts from a 1973 WBCN simulcast.Unlike many live albums that of this time period that were overdubbed and doctored, BOOTLEG is Aerosmith at its rawest. "Back in the Saddle" and "Toys in the Attic" contain plenty of ragged guitar playing. Despite the sub-par sound quality, the tracks triumph nonetheless thanks to the primal vibe generated by the band's chemistry. Yes, hits like "Walk This Way" and "Dream On" are included, but the true gems are oft-overlooked nuggets like "Chip Away the Stone," "Mama Kin," and an uncredited "Draw the Line" that overflow with Aerosmith's trademark sass and attitude. James Brown's "Mother Popcorn" and the blues classic "I Ain't Got You" (originally done by the Yardbirds), not only show the band's range, but its love of black music.

Live Bootleg

Created: 21/11/10
Forgotten gem of a live album - features all the tracks you'd expect from their mid-late 70's peak - Sweet Emotion, Walk This Way, Dream On, etc. - but these true live versions breathe new life into these classic rock radio staples. Even more fun are the album tracks that don't get much play - Sick As A Dog, Chip Away The Stone and Toys In The Attic. Highly recommended for any classic/hard rock fan!

what a masterpiece!!

Created: 05/08/07
Even though this is recorded during the heydays of their drug use, this is some of their Intimate recordings.Especially, the recording of the Beatles song "Come Together".Even though the liner notes says that"We kept this gig so secret, nobody showed up but us"(Waltham, Ma.)That is where I was raised and myself and friends use to hang out outside the "Wherehouse"One night in particular,Steven Tyler came out of the building(with a boombox over his shoulder and danced his way over to me and my friends and said "Hail-Hail the gangs all here"!!On another occasion,Joe Perry came out and jumped into his Porsche, and It wouldn't start. So, me and my friends gave him a push so he could jumpstart the car.

One of my Favorite Live Recordings

Created: 25/04/08
If you like Raw Live performances you'll love this CD. This rough, tough and rowdy live album brings together 14 recordings from Aerosmith's 1977-78 tour. You may not enjoy every song but there are more than enough songs that kick ass. This is a great live album that was never messed with in the studio. If you want to hear an old school 70's show at it's rowdiest this is it. Of course it's not perfect, it's not supposed to be, a true live performance.

Will the real Aerosmith please satnd up!

Created: 11/09/06
This is excellent, raw, live, real Aerosmith. It doesn't get any better than this. This live recording includes some of Aerosmith's greatest hits while including some of their most brilliant songs, that for one reason or another went unnoticed in the mainstream. This is edgy. You get a clear picture of why Aerosmith, fronted by the Toxic Twins, Tyler and Perry, rose to stardom!

Aerosmith at their best!!!

Created: 02/01/11
This is classic Aerosmith at their best. Great tunes played by a young hungry band! Tyler belts out the lyrics with Perry rips the lead guitar. A must have for true Aerosmith fans!!!
