King when he was only eight years old and was a veteran of the road and gigging by the time he was 12, so it's tempting to toss him in the all flash but no soul prodigy trash bin that has been filling up pretty well since Stevie Ray Vaughan shuffled off to blues heaven -- but that would be a big mistake. Bonamassa has soul, plenty of it, and he plays guitar with a reverent grace, and sometimes lost in all this is that he's a pretty good singer, too, sounding more than a little bit like a reconstituted Paul Rodgers. His stunning headline show from the Royal Albert Hall, which featured guest spots by Eric Clapton and Paul Jones, was released in 2009 on DVD and download versions of the songs have been available on iTunes for a while, but this two-disc set marks the first official release of the concert as an album in and of itself, and it's simply wonderful, full of great guitar playing, solid singing, and with a horn section and double drummers on board, the sound is full and even majestic. Bonamassa is the real deal, and tracks here like the elegant opener "Django," "The Ballad of John Henry," the marvelous cover of Charley Patton's "High Water Everywhere," and a shifting, sprawling workout on Rod Stewart's "Blues Deluxe" show a musician at the top of his game, one who has learned that a guitar lead should serve the song and not the other way around. Bonamassa isn't some kid prodigy anymore -- he's grown up into one of the most soulful blues-rock performers on the planet. There's plenty of proof of that here. ~ Steve Leggett

Where's This Guy Been All My LIfe??

Created: 28/02/11
Stumbled upon Joe Bonamassa by accident flipping channels one night last fall when PBS was doing a fundraiser and they were playing the DVD version of this concert. I became an instant fan. Finally got around to buying a copy of the CD and eventually will buy the DVD too. I've not heard blue-eyed blues like this since Duane and Dicky tore up Fillmore East back in 1971(not sure anyone will eclipse those performances. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a blues expert and I couldn't tell you the difference between Memphis Blues and Chicago Blues, but Joe is the real deal and this won't be the last CD of his I snag. Please check this guy out. You won't be disappointed.

I purchased this CD as well as the Blu-ray DVD. Originally saw this concert on the Palladia channel. Joe Bonamassa is a wonderful blues guitarist and singer. On the big screen with the volume up it is fantastic! Bought the CD for my car. The DVD waiting to watch after we see Joe in our city on March 18th. The concert was wonderful. Clapton sat in on a song with him. Worth the watch and the listen.

Joe bonamassa live

Created: 13/01/11
I saw part of this live on TV and was amazed. Saw Joe in person in FtMyers, Fl, his last concert of 2010. Most awesome guitar player ever. You hear one song, and think it can't get better but it does. The Cd has most of the songs that he played live in concert when I saw him. Will defenently fo see him again and would recommend his CDs and or seeing him live in concert to anyone who loves blues, rock and great guitar playing.

Joe Bonamassa at The Royal Albert Hall

Created: 23/03/11
After going to his concert in Sioux Falls, SD, I just had to have one of his CD's! I love this CD, and it goes back and forth to my husbands truck or my car. There are a lot of songs on it that we heard at the concert. Great job Joe!!I would suggest this to anyone. Good to see there were a lot of "older" fans of good guitar music at the concert!
