In this book Alexandra Stoddard suggests that we should dedicate effort and resources towards making everyday living in some way rejuvenating and special. While it is not a new concept that "our home is our castle" her joy for life and and impeccable style brings it to us from a unique and modern perspective.

I had enjoyed another book by Mrs. Stoddard, Gift of a Letter, and was eager to read more of her helpful, practical, graciously-implemented ideas. This book delivered! From her ideas for decorating, suggestions for household organization, and creative reminders to embrace the beauty of simple things, Mrs. Stoddard is able to inpire her readers to apply and implement these areas into their everyday lives. Each chapter closes with her trademark "Grace Notes" - - one- or two-sentence ideas, inspirational quotations, or practical tips that make the reader say not only, "Hey, I could do that!", but also, "Why didn't I think of that?" My only regret was that the book wasn't longer!

I bought the book as a recommended read from a friend. There are some interesting subjects, however, you must have lots of time on your hands to do some of the beautiful things she suggests. It's a pre-Martha Stewart living book.
