Album Notes
Audio Mixers: Ducky Carlisle; Tom Hambridge.Recording information: Blackbird Studios, Nashville, TN.Photographers: Paul Natkin; Chuck Lanza.Save for a cover of Muddy Waters' "Country Boy," Buddy Guy's Living Proof follows the template of 2008's Skin Deep by featuring only original material penned by Guy, although never fear, it's still the blues and it's still full of Guy's fiery guitar playing.

Editorial Reviews
4 stars out of 5 -- There are lots of marital bust-ups and squalls of fretboard fury that show that Buddy may be old but he's still wild.
Uncut

3 stars out of 5 -- [T]here is no nostalgia about 'Living Proof,' 'Guess What' or the instrumental 'Skanky,' where his guitar flashes like a Japanese chef's knife.
Mojo

He plays and sings with biting ferocity on 'Thank Me Someday,' 'Key Don't Fit,' 'Guess What' and the album-closing instrumental 'Skanky'...
Billboard

[H]e's still got the chops to play Buddy Guy with more dexterity, intensity, and age-defying power than anyone else...
Living Blues

3.5 stars out of 5 -- Guy is a deeply expressive singer, most in character when his aggressive pout torches lyrics about spurned lovers, as with 'Don't Let The Door Knob Hit Ya.'

Buddy Guy says... "Can you spell GRAMMY !???"

Created: 07/12/10
I have been a Buddy Guy fan for many years... my first inspiration was the "I Was Walking Through the Woods" LP back in the '70s. His sharp, frenetic, angular attack grabbed me by the throat, shook me, and I was hooked for life... I've since, joyfully followed his career over the years. While his "Damn Right I got the Blues!" album grabbed him a Grammy... "Living Proof", in my opinion, kicks things up an even bigger notch from that point, and has been touted by others as his best album in years and possibly of the decade.

I just played the CD for a friend of mine and his first remark was "This guy is HOW old !? Nobody his age plays like this !" It's true people: Buddy Guy is a living legend and has outdone himself once again... Not only is his guitar onslaught as manic and spine-chilling as ever... but the entire set is both balanced and enriched by classic tracks like the Gospel inspired "Stay Around a Little Longer" (a deeply soulful duet with B.B. King) and "This is Where The Blues Begins" (with Carlos Santana).

I'm a total skeptic when it comes to rave reviews: both in movies, music, books, etc. And in this case, without sounding too corny; this album is truly "Living Proof" that Buddy Guy is at the top of his game... and as the lyrics of the aforementioned 'Stay Around a Little Longer' state " We've come a long way... but we're a long way from done..." Amen, brother.

74 years young and still going strong!

I have always been a blues fan. Buddy guy personifies the blues like very few others alive today. He has also had one of the largest impacts on rock music of anyone. He inspired jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton. This album finds a 74 year old Buddy in great voice and amazing form on guitar. It begins with a nice melodic song "74 years young." that sums up buddy's style very well, just when you think it's a nice laid back blues song he switches gears and punches you in the mouth with a blisteringly chaotic solo. One of my favorite songs on the disc is "stay around a little longer." a touching, heartfelt duet with BB King that finds them trading soulful licks and a lyric that fits them both like a glove at this point in their lives. If you have never heard Buddy you will love this album, if you are a fan you'll love it. It's his best work since "damn right I got the blues." and one of the best albums of 2010.
