Vanston; Jann Arden; Peggy Sandvig. Here comes Jann Arden, jingling and jangling her way into your heart with a rich alto voice and a CD replete with rich, hook-laden music. Aaah, that voice. She's been compared to Heart's Ann Wilson, and it's a comparison that at once rings true, yet somehow doesn't quite do her justice. Arden, like Wilson, has power to spare. But she also has a knack for wrapping her voice around a tune, with a sensuous, subtle touch. Songs like "Demolition Love" highlight this ability. It's something you can't really learn. One moment powerful, the next little-girl lost, but always there's a sense of control, of knowing just how far to go with a melody.Arden also has a knack with the pen, as she turns a wry line or two about physical pleasure--and its consequences--in "Insensitive." Her band on this disc is superb--there is some truly beautiful acoustic-guitar playing by Dave Resnik--and the production is immaculate.

...With a voice that calls to mind Ann Wilson without the squall, and a knack for hooks that take up a permanent place in your brain, Arden deserves to follow fellow countrywoman Sarah McLachlan down the road to platinum... - Rating: A-

Living Under June by Jann Arden

Created: 19/11/10
Jann Arden is the impitemy of the all around entertainer. She is a phenomenal singer and songwriter, she is hilarious and is approachable as an artist. Purchased this cd many years ago and somewhere lost it in my many moves (or I loaned it to someone and they are enjoying it). Looking forward to listening to her melodic voice as I carry on...it is like having a friend with you as you do your monotonous chores and there is one upbeat to the monotony.

Power Girl Rock!

Great album for a girls-only road trip! Some compare Jann Arden to Sarah McLachlan, but I would add that she's also a touch Tori Amos. Powerful (90s for sure) rock, great for reminiscing and singing out loud (alone) in your car. It's an album that many may not want to admit owning, but once you mention it in the company of your trusted female friends, you'll find that they all either have it or at least love it.

CD review on Jann Arden

Created: 01/07/06
I purchased this CD for one song that was in the movie, "Bed of Roses". The music from Jann Arden is very soulful and emotional with a wide range of topics. I will attempt to purchase other items by this artist in the future.

Moody and soulful. Tends to put what your feeling into words and moves you. I listen to all her CD's all the time. Wonderful melody and beat. I'd probably classify it as Adult Contemp. genre.
