Movie synopsis

A brutally comic tale about a group of London friends who find themselves deep in debt to an East End tough, LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS is quick-paced, stylized, and highly entertaining. In his debut feature film, director-writer Guy Ritchie weaves a tangled web of shady, blithely eccentric characters and several storylines, all of them coming together in a gleeful explosion of murder and mayhem. When streetwise charmer Eddy (Nick Moran), the son of steely bar owner JD (Sting), botches a gambling scheme with his dad's nemesis, porn king Hatchet Harry (P.H. Moriarty), he's got one week to come up with 500,000 pounds or he loses his fingers--and so do his friends Tom (Jason Flemyng), Bacon (Jason Statham), and Soap (Dexter Fletcher). While the pals scheme to make the money, Harry indulges his penchant for valuable antique shot guns, stolen for him by a couple of inept burglars. Soon the missing guns, a paranoid group of marajuana growers, a mean-spirited debt collector (Vinnie Jones) and his young son, and a violent bunch of thugs, are all thrown together in this tightly-woven, genuinely funny story that takes its inspiration from old British comic gangster flicks like THE LEAGUE OF GENTLEMEN and more recent films like RESERVOIR DOGS and THE USUAL SUSPECTS.

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

I saw this for the first time about a year ago. This film was so funny and so well done, that it convinced me to see anything else Guy Ritchie had done -- and to purchase copies for myself. I'm only disappointed he hasn't done more.

When discussing his work with others, I have at times compared him with Quentin Tarantino, but without the gore. If you have a taste for dark humor, Guy Ritchie's Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels is a must see.

I'm not a big movie-watcher, but I loved this fast-paced, multi-faceted story about hapless criminals in London's East End.

Though the Cockney dialect can be hard to follow, the overall plot is much easier to take in than Ritchie's other movie, "Snatch."

Review of Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels

Guy Ritchie's outrageously funny masterpiece portrays the lives of four young men growing up in a world of corruption. These men decide to risk their livelihoods and play at Harry's clandestine gambling arena, yet they lose it all to one hand. In a comedy of criminal error, Guy Ritchie has finally completed a milestone film which has fascinated millions.

This is Guy at his best before he got mixed up with Madonna and let her dictate his directing. This is a really great tale and has so many twists and turns it will keep your head spinning. If you liked his movie "Snatch" this is right up your alley! One of my all time favorite movies.

Guy ritchie films rock!

I like how the movie shows different characters that end up coming together in the end. THe movie was produced by Guy ritchie. I'd recommend RocknRolla and Snatch. They are 2 similar type movies if you liked this one both produced by him.
