Armed men brusquely and brutally evacuate the small Nevada town of Sunrise Valley, which is subsequently obliterated by a fuel-air bomb. This action marks the opening salvo in a ploy by the vicious Russian mobster known as the Wolf (the villain from the previous Cross novel, THE BIG BAD WOLF). Aided by British murderer Colonel Geoffrey Shafer, aka "the Weasel," the Wolf heads a cabal of terrorists threatening to bomb several major world cities if their ransom demands, which total several billion dollars, are not met within the next four days. Tapped to head an international task force dedicated to foiling this sinister plot, Alex Cross quickly learns that the Wolf and the Weasel's plans also include personal revenge against Cross himself.

) This book is the next in line after The Big Bad Wolf, and picks up with Alex Cross where he left off. I wanted to read this sequel because I felt the BBW ended so poorly, with much unsaid and unaccounted for. Mr. Patterson's endings fall down on the job in this manner.
I haven't read a lot of James Patterson, but his writing style is easy to read with a surprise or two here and there. I have ordered the rest of the books in this Alex Cross series and will plug through them.
There is nothing deep to be found in the writings, so for anyone looking for something that can be picked up and put down randomly, this is a good book for that. The chapters are all very short, usually two to four pages. The pace is steady and inviting but not with an edge-of-your-seat, can't-put-it-down frenzy.
I do like that descriptions of violence give a general idea of actions without graphic details. That could also be a a side effect of rather emotionless relationships in general throughout the book, but it's welcome in this respect.
I haven't read a lot of James Patterson, but his writing style is easy to read with a surprise or two here and there. I have ordered the rest of the books in this Alex Cross series and will plug through them.

This book London Bridges was great it was a mix of Pop Goes the Weasel and Big Bad Wolf all in one! Of course I don't want to say too much to ruin your readings of other books up to this point. Just put it this way. I loved this book, it is a must read in my opinion. If you don't read all in the series read this one. I love adventure and the hunt for bad guys. I read Hannibal years back and it was a hunt for him, just like in this one. This book would be a FANTASTIC MOVIE!

Another Great Patterson Read!

London Bridges is a really good book and a welcome edition to the Alex Cross series with typical Patterson drama, plot twists and edge of your seat suspense. The Alex Cross novels are one of Pattersons most popular fiction series, made famous on the big screen in Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider both starring Morgan Freeman. I couldn't put this one down.

Alex Cross is back...but the book is a little dull

I'm a big fan of James Patterson and Alex Cross, but this book was a little disappointing. It is yet another cat-and-mouse game between the good guys and the bad guys, but this mystery doesn't bring anything new to the game. Alex's personal life is similarly unfulfilling; there is less of an emphasis on the personal relationships than in previous books, leaving the character lacking depth. It was a pretty quick read and easy to get into, particularly if you've read the other Alex Cross books. It would be good for an airplane read or on vacation.

Finally, another Alex Cross book worthy of James Patterson. It's a thoroughly satisfying thriller. Like the other Alex Cross books, the chapters are short and lead the reader to the next chapter, and the next, and the next. Impossible to put down until the end. Patterson has returned to his writing style with this book, unlike the many recent "co-authored" titles he has been putting out lately--all of them a disappointment. I had almost given up on Mr. Patterson--then London Bridges came along!
