Movie synopsis

Peter Jackson's epic trilogy is fully told here, with the theatrical versions of all three LORD OF THE RINGS films included. THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING: With THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING, director Peter Jackson has achieved a meticulous and captivating adaptation of the first book of J.R.R. Tolkien's classic fantasy trilogy. The setting is Middle-earth, a mythological land populated by elves, dwarves, humans, and the gentle, diminutive hobbits upon whom the story centers. One hobbit, Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood), unexpectedly comes into possession of an ancient magical ring so powerful it invariably corrupts anyone who wears it. In order to prevent the ring's erstwhile owner, the dark lord Sauron, from reclaiming the ring and taking over Middle-earth, a motley band of comrades set out to destroy it in the fires of Mount Doom, where it was forged. Included in the group are Frodo and hobbits Sam (Sean Astin), Merry (Dominic Monoghan), and Pippin (Billy Boyd); the wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen); human warriors Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen) and Boromir (Sean Bean); the dwarf Gimli (John Rhys-Davies); the elf Legolas (Orlando Bloom). Along the way, they wage battle with monsters, demons, and Sauron's evil minions, all brought to life by spectacular digital technology.LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS: Picking up where the first film left off, Peter Jackson's THE TWO TOWERS throws the remaining members of the Fellowship into the scattered chaos of Middle-earth, now fully under siege by the forces of Sauron. While Frodo (Elijah Wood) and Sam (Sean Astin) journey to the dreaded Mordor, Merry (Dominic Monaghan) and Pippin (Billy Boyd) are held captive by orcs, and Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), Legolas (Orlando Bloom), and Gimli (John Rhys-Davies) search for their abducted companions. Soon Frodo and Sam are joined by the sulking and duplicitous Gollum (portrayed by the voice and motion-captured acting of Andy Serkis), who becomes their guide through the barren lands leading to Mount Doom. Meanwhile Merry and Pippin encounter the looming Treebeard (voiced by Rhys-Davies) and Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli find themselves in the land of Rohan, accompanied by an old friend. As the tale continues, each scenario becomes more perilous, and fierce battles erupt at both Isengard, home of the treacherous Saruman (Christopher Lee), and the massive Helm's Deep.LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING: THE RETURN OF THE KING, the third and final film in Peter Jackson's THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy, finds Middle-earth on the cusp of great change. Weary hobbits Frodo (Elijah Wood) and Sam (Sean Astin) venture further into the dark realm of Mordor, guided by the increasingly desperate Gollum (Andy Serkis), the two-faced former owner of the Ring that Frodo must destroy in the fires of Mount Doom. Meanwhile Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and Pippin (Billy Boyd) contend with the deranged ruler Denethor (John Noble) at the once-mighty city of Minas Tirith, as Merry (Dominic Monaghan) joins Éowyn (Miranda Otto) and the Riders of Rohan to hold back the forces of Sauron. Amidst the chaos, Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen) must rise to his destiny, aided by Legolas (Orlando Bloom) and Gimli (John Rhys-Davies) in assembling allies for a massive battle that will decide the fate of Middle-earth.

'Beyond Celtic Clay-Mation;. . .'

Created: 25/11/10
'As an audience, you really have to appreciate the advent of electronic special fx over the clay-mation productions of years before. Seems irrelevant to some, but to true devotees of sci-fi and fantasy, the awkward infantilisms of the clay-mation cult had been the only answer. The result, real adult-scaled fantasy. Seamless illusions, multi-dimesnional imagery and compounded hyperbole are the aftermath of the years of over-stretched imagination; but that's what audiences were waiting for. Technically, on the bleeding edge of sfx cinematography, there are still some lumpy spots that could be improved.

The beginning of this fantasy epic triptych seems mechanical and trite when compared to what transpires. So why not endear the sanguinities of The Hobbits to the audience, even though they are most likely anticipating the next dimensions and beyond? The shire certainly seems to be cozy enough. Yet, the narrative grinds relentlessly along to the implausible and nearly contrived conclusion. There could be no beginning if not for the next two sequels. So that the technical wizardry that has so precariously been a balance up until then, evaporates with the lack of supportive writing. Better directing of that concluding image of the two Hobbits and the immense expanses of Lower Earth could have saved the initial part of the trilogy. Instead, the feeling returns that some of those zealouasly juvenile Orks were a tad too reminiscent of their clay-mation ancestors and had migrated over from some X-box or Nintendo.'

Lord of the Rings in BluRay HD is a must-have. The plot, the fighting, the action, the scenes, sounds, acting, the special effects is so well synchronized and directed by Peter Jackson in his pursuit for excellence in cinematography in an almost impossible to execute filming.

By the way Jackson achievement was the propulsor of many long filmed series such as Narnia and Harry Potter. Jackson achieved what George Lucas could not; impulsing Directors for multiple films on long stories like these in question.

All 3 movies are simply a feast to the eye in all senses. You can enjoy them every time you watch it.

Highly recommended! Simply Superb!

Wonderful movie set- a classic!

Created: 10/09/10
These movies are great, and I'm finally able to share them with my sons now that they are old enough. A little graphic on some fighting scenes, but the scenery and special effects are incredible. Would recommend this set for anyone who enjoys good vs. evil type movies.

Lord of the Rings Trilogy

Created: 10/01/10
The movies are epic, and having all three in one is even better. The only thing better tan the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, is the Lord of the Rings Extended Edition Trilogy! I bought this item as a Christmas gift for my boss, because he hadn't seen the movie and I felt obligated to share the awesomeness. If you've never seen Lord of the Rings, you should, and if you have seen it, and don't own it, you should buy it. It is an epic film that won't ever be surpassed.
