Great DVD. This is actually 4 episodes all very well done. The Road to Lourdes is based on a true story and was filmed on location in France. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves a good story without profnity, nudity, violence and sex. It was filmed in 1959 - fun to "step back in time" with the old clothes, and classic cars. It was a much simpler way of life then - it's too bad "modern progress" has completely changed us all... not sure we're better off for it.

The Road to Lourdes & Other Miracles of Faith
Created: 06/03/08
I have always been a fan of Loretta Young, especially as a small child! My family watched her show every time it was on! I had no idea Loretta did a program on LOURDES!! I'm a frequent traveler to this Holy place, so when I saw the title, "The Road to Lourdes," it was a "must see!" And of course, I was NOT disappointed! Loretta plays a wealthy socialite with a brain tumor & marital problems who travels to France, then plans on driving to Spain. On her way she meets a little boy who is heading for Lourdes so he can work among the sick. He convinces Loretta to join him on a pilgrimage to Lourdes! She does, and her whole life is forever changed because of the faith she witnesses there! The DVD is vintage black and white and contains rare footage of this Holy place! The other "shows" on the DVD pertain to her character, Sister Anne, a Nursing Sister in a major hospital. Overall, it's GREAT family entertainment - but with a wonderful message! Highly recommended!

Good, Old fashioned family time!

My knowledge on Loretta Young is pretty new, having found information about her on Wikipedia. I could not vouch for her work due to my very limited knowledge....until now. I wasn't very sure what to expect, so with great reluctance and a bit of trepedition did I bring myself to buy this DVD. And I am pleased to inform you, that I was not disappointed.
Ms. Loretta Young's work is so good that I can easily give 2 thumbs up for her creativity, acting AND her dressing. And, my...is she pretty!
The DVD has episodes from her classic show viz:
1) The Road : a story of a woman's self discovery and the rekindling of her dead faith at Lourdes, in the face of a personal tragedy. This show departs from her traditional 30 mins show (Its an hour long) and was re-released to coincide with the 150th anniversary of the Apparitions of Our Lady at Lourdes.
Episodes 2, 3 and 4 are about Sister Ann (played by Loretta Young), a Sister of Mercy in a hospital and how she has to deal with various situations with her co-workers, patients and her deep relationship with God.All these episodes are full of wit, humour, sacrifice and faith and with a deep moral behind it, and which will speak to young and old alike.
One particular aspect that I love is that the charachters here all potray the beauty of charity and selflesness, a much needed antidote to a selfish world.
In addition to these fantastic episodes, there is a treasure trove of extras including an interview by Loretta's son, ads from the 50's, a prayer to Our Lady of Lourdes and much more.
This is great for the family, for Church circles, Catechisms....you name it.
And IT IS NOT DULL!

Loretta Young at her best! If you're familiar with contemporary Lourdes, this is a must have item. It's amazing to see that the activity at the shrine hasn't changed in more than 50 years.
