Publisher's Note
Imagine a young boy who has never had a loving home. His only possesions are the old, torn clothes he carries in a paper bag. The only world he knows is one of isolation and fear. Although others had rescued this boy from his abusive alcoholic mother, his real hurt is just begining -- he has no place to call home. This is Dave Pelzer's long-awaited sequel to A Child Called "It". In The Lost Boy, he answers questions and reveals new adventures through the compelling story of his life as an adolescent. Now considered an F-Child (Foster Child), Dave is moved in and out of five different homes. He suffers shame and experiences resentment from those who feel that all foster kids are trouble and unworthy of being loved just because they are not part of a "real" family. Tears, laughter, devastation and hope create the journey of this little lost boy who searches desperately for just one thing -- the love of a family.

The author continues the story of his own child abuse, and his experiences being a foster child moving in and out of five different foster homes

The Lost Boy by Dave Pelzer

This is the first time I have ever tried to review a book but, honestly, I couldn't help myself. The Lost Boy by Dave Pelzer, kept me reading until the very end. I could not do anything else but read.

The book presents us with a child's point of view through the whole adventure. By adventure I mean a whole new life he has to live right after he is taken away from his mother's house, where he was abused. It is written beautifully and its very rich with the descriptions. Kept me reading with watery eyes through it all.

Just like its antecedent book (A Child Called 'It') once you begin reading you wont be able to stop. Keep in mind it won't be a book with fairies and full of beauty, but a book that shows us a real life case that could be happening anywhere in the world about right now.

I bought this book for my mother. I have read the entire series by david pelzer and highly reccomend this series for anyone. It tells about his life, what he went threw as a child. It addresses an issue that otherwise lies dormant in our society (child abuse) It shows what he went threw as a child, as a boy, as a teenager, and as a man. It leaves you with the question of how many children are forced to deal with such situations in there life. It also motivates you to want to help other as well. I know after reading the series I want to be more involved, I wish I was there to help him and take him in. He is a great motivational speaker as well and I would love to meet him as well.

I loved this book!

This book is just one of several written by the author. The true account of severe child abuse that he suffered at the hand of his mother is astonishing! His spirit, and the courage to survive is amazing. Parts of this book were hard to read and I found myself crying. Every child in America should read this book, so when they are adults, they will be able to notice when a child is abused and take appropriate action. It certainly made me appreciate the childhood that I had and the love from my family. I would highly recommend this to everyone. Read "A Child Called It" first.

A Must Read.

I read "A child called It", the first book in this series, and couldn't put it down. I searched for the second of three books, "The Lost Boy", and it was just as fabulous!!! It gives true insight to the foster care system, and you almost feel as though you are living it yourself through this boys experiences. It is so nice to know that there are people out there who truly care about others. This man is an inspiration to everyone who reads this book.

Now, I'm looking forward to the last book in the series, "A Man Called Dave".
