LOVE, BILLY is a collection of songs written by Billy Braggs, as interpreted by Discount.Discount: Alison (vocals); Ryan (guitar); James (bass); Bill (drums).Recorded at Morrisound Studios, Tampa, Florida in February 1998.Personnel: Ryan Seagrist (guitar); Bill Nesper (drums).Recording information: Morrisound Studios (02/1998).Before this EPs get labeled as the next creative step for Discount, it should be noted that Love, Billy is a collection of Billy Bragg covers, sort of their tribute to the legendary singer/songwriter. This is a neat little release that doesn't stray too far from their familiar high-energy pop-punk, although the songs are a little longer and have more of a rocking feel to it. Even if this EP doesn't have any new Discount songs to offer, it's nice to see who some of their inspirations were. And if anything else, the curiosity factor is enough for one to check out their renditions of "Accident Waiting to Happen" and "Waiting for the Great Leaf Forward," among others. ~ Mike DaRonco
