Movie synopsis
David E. Talbert's portrayals of the trials of contemporary love have earned him numerous NAACP Awards, smash hits, and a place in hearts all across America. This filmed version of his play LOVE ON LAYAWAY features an all-star cast that includes vocalist Deborah Cox, who shines on nearly every track. The story centers on three couples living in a brownstone and attempting to navigate the vicissitudes of life, love, and spirituality. Ms. Willanetta (Cassi Davis) has been dating her beau Renzo (Buddy Lewis) for 12 years, but a religious experience has made her question their relationship. Meanwhile, Monique Graham (Cox) lives with her boyfriend, Anthony (Mel Jackson), but feels that he is making the bare minimum payments on their love affair. Finally, Epiphany (Joi Campbell) is faced with a difficult choice between her son, Man Man, and her new boyfriend, Reggie (Chico Bennymon).

) I saw this play at a friend's house. I love plays because they are raw and free from over-editing. This play was well written, funny, romantic and I felt that it helped me in my personal life. I saw bits of myself in this play, too! It's my new favorite play. I am happy to have my own copy.

Mykel Shannon (Jenkins) is the GLOW of this play! Gorgeous, humble (RARE) and talented actor...refreshing! Hilariously funny, well put together and stellar music! Enthralling and thought provoking. Certainly a must see!
