Explosive!

All I have ever played with was a $30 driver so I decided to get a nice one since I upgraded my irons. Everyone I see at my golf club has the Taylor Made R7's in their bags and love them. I couldn't see paying $400 for a club, and that's where the NVG2 came in. I read some articles on it and found it on E-Bay for great price (I got the 10.5*).
The first thing I noticed was the look, its a great looking club. Second was the sound. It has a great sounding "tink" when hit in the center. When hit off center it sounds more hollow.
Yardage; this baby goes! I'm averaging around 240 yards and sometime it as far as 270! The ball just explodes off the face. When you hit it in the center, it actually feels you flatten the ball, and this baby hits them straight.
Miss hits; on miss hits, this club still produces great results, with just a little loss in yardage. You've got to have a really bad swing not to hit the club great. The only time I have had bad results is when it is hit low on the face.
My friend has got the Ping G5 driver, and I consistantly out drive him with the NVG2. After he had just hit a pretty good shot with the G5, I told him to hit with the NVG2 just for fun. He smacked it about 30 yards past the G5 drive! You should have seen his face!
If you are looking for a new driver, you can't go wrong with the MacGregor MacTec NVG2! Center, toe, heel hits give wounderful results (just stay away from shots low on the face).

e370 Fujukura shaft

I am a mid-range HC. I am 54 and hit my driver well, but not super long. I have mid-slow tempo and hit a draw. I find that shafts like this one, while no doubt of excellent quality and probably a real aid to the right golfer, are best for low HC players. That's my feeling after searching around and trying a LOT of drivers in the past year. I play a 435cc MacGregor NVG 10.5* with the factory stiff shaft. I have trimmed it about 1" from the standard length. I tried a NVG2 with the Fuji e370 stiff shaft and found it v hard to hit. Hit fades and slices, hit few shots with the distance I get from my old NVG.
Say what you want about the major club makers, but I believe they target us middle-of-the-pack guys with their off the shelf goods and do a good job of suiting the majority of players.
Until my HC gets under 10, I'll stick with the less exotic species of shafts.

MacGregor MacTec NVG2

I've been searching for a driver that would give me some extra distance and help with my slice. My search is now over....the club feels great in my hands and each crack of the club hitting the ball is the sweetest sound in golf. My slice is nearly almost gone and I've gained about 20 yards. The club itself is a work of art to look at....I wish I had looked at MacGregor sooner.
To my dismay, MacGregor has changed the styling of their 2008 driver to something a bit more tame and boring. I'm glad I was able to pick this beauty up before they made the switch.
I'm surprised MacGregor is not a top seller with the technology and quality that goes into their clubs.

MacTec Driver with Fujikura Quadra Action Shaft works great!
| Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

For decades I searched for a driver/shaft combination that fit my swing/tempo and helps me repeat straight drives with penetrating ball flights.
From name brand to custom fit drivers, none of them ever dislodged from my golf bag a 14 degree, Alien Driving Iron by Pat Simmons. Still, I wanted more opportunities to hit greens in regulation from the fairway using mid to short irons, not hybrids and fairway woods.
I have played dozens of rounds with the 10.5 degree, MacGregor MacTec NVG2 Driver fitted with the Regular flex, proprietary Fujikura Quadra Action Shaft.
It appears that the MacTec Driver will continue to replace the Alien in my golf bag.

Great product, I recommend to any golfer.

The appearance of the club and the weight draw bias the head is designed for. The stock shaft seems to fit the needs of the average golfer along with shaft weight which is light enough to create more clubhead speed than other stock shafts. Great driver.
