Superb Irons!

MacGregor Golf has been making great products recently and these M565 irons are no exception. they are a game-improvement forged iron, with a deep cavity and a two-piece design that allows weight to be moved back from the clubface and placed around the sole. They do not look like typical forged clubs at address, having a thick top line. Understated looks with a chrome finish and a black insert in the cavity.
They perform wonderfully. Mine have the Graphite Design YS factory graphite shafts, and they launch the ball high and far, significantly better than the Cobra SS irons I had previously. Feel is somewhere between a cast game-improvement club and a forged player's club. They are extremely forgiving of mishits. All in all these are the best irons I have ever owned. While MacGregor may no longer be one of the big names in the golf equipment business, they know what they are doing and produce outstanding products.

I considered these after reading all the good reviews. First let me say that these irons are quality built. The stock shafts are first class Rifle Flighted Lite steel. The heads are forged (rarely found in game improvement irons)and they have decent Golf Pride grips. Will they swing themselves? Absolutely not! I consider these to be game omprovemant and not super or ultra game improvement irons. Like any game improvement club, you always have to put a pretty good swing (not perfect)on the ball for decent results. Where these shine is that you don't have to put a perfect swing on the ball to obtain good results. I love the way they set up. They aren't clunky looking at address and the head appears slightly less than midsize in appearance. There is very minimal offset which I really like seeing at address and that is rare in a set of game improvement irons. The forgiveness is excellent on off center hits but don't expect an excellent result on a bad swing. It will, however, be better than most other types of game improvement clubs. Would I recommend these to all high handicap golfers? Nope! I believe these can be played well by anyone up to about a 16-18 handicap player. I can even see the very low handicap players liking these irons because of the nice appearance at set up. Bottom line...Very underrated set of irons. An excellent set of irons for the mid to mid-high handicap on down and at a bargain price right now. Quality built with a lot of forgivness and even playability for lower handicap golfers.

I have had my eye on these for long while. They have a solid feel and great distance. They hit more like a hybrid than a typical forged iron.
great quality on the product. MacGregor only uses the best shafts and grips on their clubs.
replacing a set of Ping G2 with these.

MacGregor V-Foil M565 is just excellent

Before I decided to buy this M565 iron set (3-P G S) I had bought and played three other sets and had "demo" some of the big names. I ended up buying two sets of M565 from eBay, one in steel shaft (4.5) and tho other with stiff graphite. Now I am playing the set with graphite shaft because it is much lighter. I know the set with steel shaft gives me more accuracty but I am just lazy to cary that heavier set becasue I usually walk on the course. I have to say this is the best set I have ever played in almost 4 years since I picked golf up. I had it for a year and my score keep dropping. Last week I first shoot in the 70's. I might have improved my skill fundamentals but that improvement should have also come together with help from these irons. I am especially pleased with the long and mid irons (3, 4, 5, 6, 7 irons). I found them easy to hit. Previously I did not think I can hit 3 and 4 irons. Now I got rid of 5 wood because my 3 iron can go that far with better accuracy. The sound produced from hitting the ball is very crispy, and very different from that by a cast iron. I am not sure about how "forgiving" is defined, but I think it is easy to hit these irons while they still give me very direct feel about the impacts.
