Movie synopsis

Diane Keaton, Katie Holmes, and Queen Latifah headline director Callie Khouri's (DIVINE SECRETS OF THE YA-YA SISTERHOOD) second feature film. Nina (Latifah) and Jackie (Holmes) are two of many employees with mundane jobs at the high-security Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank. Their lives change forever when career mom Bridget (Diane Keaton) takes a job there as a cleaning woman after learning that she and her downsized husband, Don (Ted Danson), are hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt. Being surrounded by stacks and stacks of money is too much for Bridget to bear, and she corrals Nina and Jackie into taking the biggest risk of their lives: sneaking out of the bank money that is removed from circulation and about to be shredded. Amazingly, their scheme works, and soon the three are fast friends and the cash is piling up. But will they ever have enough "mad money," or will greed be their downfall? The fun here is in how three average women pull off a remarkably low-tech scam in the midst of super-high security levels, hidden cameras, and constant monitoring. Keaton, Latifah, and Holmes make a nice team, playing very different women with very different needs. Keaton's Bridget is trying to maintain her family's comfortable, upper-middle-class lifestyle when her husband no longer can. Meanwhile, the sole concern of Latifah's single mom, Nina, is keeping her sons out of trouble despite their surroundings. And Holmes's Jackie is a one-of-a-kind free spirit, dancing to the beat of her own drummer. Danson has some of the film's best lines as he tries to put his wife's actions into perspective.

Mad Money

Created: 10/02/10
This is a light hearted Comedy about 3 Women who work with the US Treasury destroying over used Bills. It stars Diane Keaton, Katie Holmes, and Queen Latifah. Ted Danson is Diane Keaton’s husband in the Movie.

This movie is perfect for the hard financial times we all seem to be going through. Ted Danson’s character loses his job due to down sizing and Diane Keaton has to go back to work after many years out of the work force. The only job she can get is a janitor at the Federal Reserve Bank. There she meets Katie Holmes and Queen Latifah’s characters. Diane Keaton comes up with a plan to steal the money being destroyed. And then the fun begins.

This movie is great for a laugh or two on a rainy day. It makes you realize that there is always hope and that life is full of ups and downs. Grab a bowl of popcorn and favorite drink and have a couple of hours of escape. I highly recommend this Movie.

Enjoying Crime Has Never Been So Fun!

I'm sure that the whole lot of white collar criminals that supposedly concocted up a scheme to get rich have already thought up these things and gotten caught before, but in today's high-tech world, we all can easily relate to this movie's theme and it's 3 main characters.

Headed up by Diane Keaton, Katie Holmes, and Queen Latifah, this film shows how 3 totally different individuals can get along well enough to pull off a bank heist and land themselves great wealth without first getting caught.

Ted Danson is very funny as well in this movie, but Diane Keaton really makes the movie at the end.

5/5 for total believability and fun.
