Madden NFL 06 (Xbox, 2005)

To all of the people out there who just complain every single year about Madden - will you please stop?

The fact is, Madden 2006 is one of the greatest sports games of all-time. Electronic Arts does a great job of making improvements every single year of the game. I started playing it in 1991 on my Sega Genesis (back in the day when every single player was #22). In today's world you can play it on a HDTV on a powerful Xbox machine and it almost looks real (especially the Xbox 360 version).

I'll tell you this, if you are new to football games it is going to take you days to get used to the controls. In addition, the online play is very frustrating at times. However, if you learn to screen your opponents well, you can avoid playing certain players who like using online glitches to gain an advantage.

One nice new feature in Madden 2006 is the EA Locker feature online. This is basically a hard drive on an EA server in which you can load game files and make them public to friends. By doing this, you can participate in online franchises and seasons!

For some reason, I think that people who buy Madden will never be happy because truthfully the game will never be perfect. Until the day comes where it is 99% like real football (and this is probably 80%) people are going to continue to complain.

If you are looking to purchase this for a football video game lover, then you must do it. If you have kids over the age of 7-8 that love football then they would get into this game very much.

I myself am in my twenties and still play it religiously! Electronic Arts keep it up!

-On a side note, in 2005 the NFL gave exclusive rights to EA Sports for video game production. The ESPN 2K series was gaining ground on Madden, but because of restrictions EA sports has exclusive rights. Some say that the lack of competition will make EA Sports relax and not concentrate and increasing gameplay. It hasn't shown this year - but I'll be curious for 2007.

This is one of the best games EA has ever released. This game has good graphics, fun gameplay, and an in-depth franchise and superstar mode. Superstar Mode is one of the best features that was added to Madden this year. Now, you can start with a college player, and controll every aspect of his career. From draft day to the day he retires, you controll the player. If you have NCAA Football 2006, you can import you Race for the Heisman legend and continue to controll his career. Also, the new Madden has introduced QB vision to gameplay. Now the controlling the quarterback is more realistic. More accurate passes and a more realistic feel to gameplay. QB vision works on defense as well. The backfield can now see where the QB is looking and has a little better chance of breaking up the play. Overall Madden 2006 is a very good game and I would recommend it to any football or video game fan.

Madden 06 has the great graphics and great game play. But I think its easier to beat the A.I. players now than ever befor.
The franchise mode gives you total controll over your team, stadium,players, and cost. Set the prices on your jerseys and hot dogs and rake in the money. You have 20 seasons as an owner to make the big time. If you get to shakey kiss your team goodbye, You will get fired. Complete the 20 seasons with alot of superbowl wins and reap the rewards. check the pappers for the latest news and storys. It even has its own radio show in the game.This is a big improvement. More detail in the create a stadium and team mode. You still get madden cards based on performance and unlock stadiums and teams as you progress.The franchise mode part of maddens improvements are excellent.
The QB vision that it cameout with is ok. Gives you an idea of how good a passer your QB will be. The running game controlls have changed alot since 04. You will no longer use the thumb sticks for blockers and special moves. So basically, the running game just got easier. Prepar for 100+ yards on the ground per game.
The passing game is more detailed. You can now place the ball in a specific spot while on the move or in the pocket. It may seem a little harder at first, with alot of thrown picks, but with the right QB your looking at 250+ yards per game in the long run.

This is a very good game for the faithful Madden followers. This year the Quarterback (QB) position has been revamped with a special "Field of Vission" which will enable the QB to place the pass more effectively in targeted spots to the receivers. The drawback of course is that you alert defenders to where you are passing as they can see your "Field of Vission". I guess this kind of happens in real life as defenders read QBs eyes, it's the same premise. Football game players know that Madden is essential to their Xbox collection and this game is no different. You will enjoy it if you are football gamer.

Madden NFL has an exclusive liscense to the NFL players, trademarks, and other properties. This means that you won't find any other authentic game out there with up to date players, teams, or coaches. So basically it's Madden or bust. Fortunately this game is pretty good and if you like football you won't be disappointed. This game offers a rousing and realistic game of football with plenty of gaming modes. You can put together a tournament featuring your favorite teams, you can play an entire season including training camp, or you can just play an exhibition game. A nice feature for me was the football 101 sessions with Madden coaching me while I practiced different plays with my favorite teams. This game has plenty to offer and should appeal to most any football fan of any skill level. I would recommend picking up an edition one or two years old because you'll get a much better deal and very few changes are made from year to year.
