Madea Goes to Jail (DVD, 2006)

Tyler Perry is Madea and the Madea series creator genius. Madea is a "post-menopausal" woman of color who is a hilarious straight shooter always telling it like it is, complete with physical demonstrations that are filled with antics.

Though I am now a Perry and Madea fan, this one is a filmed theater performance that winds up being an one stage Christian hymn singing revival. That turned me way off. So did the fact that Perry used many of the same punch lines from Madea's family Reunion in this far less well performed filmed stage performance.

I recommend Madea's Family Reunion way above this one. Though the product description says Madea Goes to Jail comes AFTER Madea's Family Reunion, in Madea Goes to Jail, Tyler Perry announces his intention to create Madea's Family Reunion. I don't know for certain which came first. But I do know which one is best and it's not this one. Again, the long Christian hymn singing revival style at the end ruins this film. It makes the film a Christian religion ONLY one and therefore losing Tyler Perry's gift for being diversified and inclusive.

I decided to buy Madea Goes to Jail because I have other Tyler Perry (Madea) DVDs and enjoyed them very much. His Madea plays are both humorous and serious. This one was no exception. It is very easy to follow the storylines. I love the songs, I even know some of the words! I also remember some of that old school discipline Madea administered when she thought it necessary. She really pushed respect for parental authority as well as love and protection within even the extended family unit. Imagine THAT being FUNNY! I did not dislike any part of the play, it was great!

i ordered this dvd beause i love any tyler perry movies from comedy to drama but i love madea she's a cut of same cloth i come from ol skool.although our english is a bit differrnt the same message applies.this site offered the best price by pennies,but that was good enough 4 me.at first i thought i'd really be taking a chance buying a dvd on line because it could be a bootleg or poor quality at his price but i did and i'm glad i did..will do again that's for sure i wish he's a had all the tyler videos together so i could have gotten the other one's i want u knnow how they say u might be interested in this as well giving me another option to buy the last 2 or 3 dvd's prior to this video.besides that it was a good deal BUT !! I DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS A PLAY!!!! I LOVE A GOOD PLAY BUT COME ON !!! PLEASE IN LG PRINT CLARIFY....LUCKY I 'M A CULTURED WOMAN.(lol lol)otherwise the play was entertaining but now i have 2 buy the movie ..it's not NICE 2 FOOL IGUANAMAMA.things happen and this was still a good things.

Tyler Perry's play Madea goes to jail is comical,hilarious,and all you can name except for horrible. This play will have you laughing for days and days. If you haven't seen Madea goes to jail I strongly reconmmend you to see this play. It's in most movie stores now out on DVD. I, not too long ago purhased this DVD,about a month ago. What I love about this play is that you will not get bored while watching this play. There is nothing I dislike about Madea goes to jail. I decided to buy Madea goes to jail because I just have to see all Tyler Perry's play even the ones that don't have Madea in them. It's almost like an addiction to see all of his plays. I rate Madea goes to jail an excellent(or an 5/5)

I love the bigger than life character of Madea. I have enjoyed Tyler Perry's other plays and movies and looked forward to this one. I was not disappointed! You never want to get Madea too riled up as she carries a purse and that purse contains her equalizers! Tyler Perry knows his audience well and never shortchanges us as far as entertainment goes. The DVD has many extras and is well worth the money.
