Madeline Audio Collection by Ludwig Bemelmans and Carol Channing (2001, Unabridged, Audio Cassette)

Teaching young children to read is the most important thing we can do to help them succeed. Using quality children's literature with good illustrations and that include a "toy" component like the Madeline series is a "win-win" situation. When one adds something as entertaining as the voice and song of Carol Channing, an "old-time" favorite, children can enjoy something special that is not always available right now. I find that children are very entertained with this series and believe that a mistake has been made in not brining it back, integrating the rich cultures represented in the world and the United States and expanding on the entire series. I've actually written a "compendium of the Madeline" as it's been available to me and hope to "publish" it using a color-rich computer "notepad format as it becomes affordable for children as it's 100 pages of full color Madeline! Wow, was I the right person to ask about my opinion regarding a Madeline product? Yes, I believe I was, to answer my own question. One could ask me the same question about several other series and I would be just as happy to comment and ready to share information. Children's literacy is my passion. Thanks for asking. My only dislike is that I am not able, because of cost to children, to make my compendium available to any child who would like to see it.

I bought this to listen to it in the car with my grand daughter. The recording is poor and the reader's voice is irritating. There are other stories on the tape besides Madeline and they are stupid! It is really a disappointment.
