Make Doll Shoes! by Lyn alexander (2000)
Created: 07/09/07
Author Lyn Alexander takes you through a complete course on making doll shoes. The patterns in this particular book include the old-fashioned, high-top, button boots and the cute little strap sandles.
In this book, Lyn explains how to adjust the patterns for use for any size doll, with complete details on trimming, bindings and other finishes. (My favorites are the old fashioned four-buttoned, high-top boot and the strap sandals and slippers). Not having tried any of the patterns as yet, I do plan to "get to it" soon. The instructions given are for using leather to make the shoes. I plan to use felt and other soft materials for my doll shoes.
(According to the book, textured oilcloth can also be used. I want to explore this aspect).
I purchased this book to learn more detailed methods of making doll shoes. In the past, I made up my own, which were okay, but I want to add more detail, and this book provides that information. This is a great resource for doll crafters; I recommend it to anyone from the beginner to the experienced doll crafter who is interested in completing their dressed doll with finesse!

This is one of the best books that I have seen on making doll shoes. The patterns are extremely accurate, the method of making the shoes is well-explained. This is a great way to learn how to make doll shoes. I already have this book, but have a friend who asked me about good books for making doll shoes, and I bought it for her. There is also a second edition from the same author on making doll boots, which is also excellant.

This book can really get a beginner started in making shoes. Since very few vintage type shoes are available for the smaller doll feet I find I will have to make my own. Lots of ideas and patterns and I can hardly wait to get started. 9cats2horses

The title caught my interest

The book was brand new but the content left much to be desired. The patterns were generic and had to be modified to fit any doll. Each pattern needed to be altered to make the shoes stay on the dolls feet.. Over all pattern designs were no more then glorified shoe slip-ons. But the book was cheap so I learn a lesson. Research a book before you buy it. I have come across many other books that really measure up to higher expectations.

Love this book. Gave me more insight into making doll shoes properly. Have made a few pair very successfully with the aid of the book. Highly recommend. Would like to find first book. The one I have is specialized for leather. I need to do cloth so shoes will match outfits.
