) This is the best commentary on Mark's Gospel. The author, David Garland, lives in the 1st century. He brings a wealth of background knowlegde and it is obvious that Garland has read everyting else out there on the topic. He interprets every passage of Mark in light of its historical context & its literary context (where it is in Mark's structure), and he makes appropriate application. I give this commentary a hearty commendation for preachers and serious students of the Word.

) I bought this for my son as he is trying to get the whole Bible in this NIV collection. This was the last one that he needed to complete the New Testament series. Now, to work on the Old Testament to complete it. He likes this commentary set very much.
