Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (Xbox, 2006)

This game is plain fun, and even better when you can have up to 4 players at a time. This was our main reason for trying it out. It is hard to find a good multi player game that everyone can hop into at any time. There is an unlimited combination of players and weapons that you can choose from, I didn’t even scrape the surface on playing each and every character.
I personally used a combination of the cheats and the walkthrough for review purposes. With the cheats you can have everything instantly. For you hardcore gamers you will enjoy the hours of unlocking all of the levels, players, and there special moves this game has to offer.
For you Marvel and comic book fans this game definitely has what you are looking for with its in depth look into the Marvel Universe. The RPG style of game has very good cut scenes and a good story board that is easy to follow. You will start with Captain America, Thor, Spider-Man, and Wolverine, and as you progress you will eventually be able to get all 18 different super heroes. The artists at Raven software have done an excellent job at creating the different fantasy worlds Mephisto's Realm, Asgard, Mandarin's palace, the Skrull home world, and Dr. Doom's castle. The loads of great art in this game make it very visually pleasing.
This game combines it all from multiplayer game play action, furious button mashing fight scenes, mind games, challenging villains, as well as plenty of mini games to play.

- A lot of Marvel characters either are not playable or M.I.A. Plus 2 characters less than 360 version.
- Fighting can tend to be repetitive.

This is only the beginning of games involving the entire Marvel Universe. Real time strategy will keep even an RPG hater interested enough to play through. There are only about 5 real CGI cutscenes and they look amazing. One of the biggest disappointment may be no Hulk or Punisher as well as a lot of other characters who won't be included. But most people will have their hands full trying to decide who to pick for their team anyway so it may be for the better.

Must play for any fan of Marvel comics if not a must have title.

The short answer is yes. Let me quantify. If you love the Marvel comics universe or you are a fan of either "X-Men Legends" or "X-Men Legends: Rise of Apocolypse" you will quite enjoy this game. There is a large group of features that make this game more fun, but the maximum fun is unlocked when you play it with some friends. The competition in Arcade cooperative mode is a blast. You see who kicked the most tail at the end of each level then let the trash talking begin. Grab some friends and plan on spending some time with this game, it really is the "Ultimate" Alliance.
Pros:
The number of playable characters is amazing as well as the play differences between each of them. The voice acting is spot on. The online feature is a blast, being able to team up with people around the world to fight Galatus is great fun. Huge number of famous and not so famous villians.
Cons:
Graphics could be tighter but overall they are good for xbox. Not enough camera control.

This is an incredible game. For anyone who's been a fan of comic books or the Marvel universe in general, you will find all you want in this game and more. RPG fans will be excited by the sheer length of gameplay. Marvel fans will love the variety of possible characters and four-person teams. Sure, the game's plot itself is a little shaky, but it's well-constructed enough to hold the story together for the entire game. Miniquests like finding the Hero dolls and character mission simulations are enough to keep gamers satisfied. Marvel fans will like that character interactions can reveal information about the Heroes from the Marvel universe. Gameplay, also, is amazing. 10 out of 10.

I bought the Marvel Ultimate Alliance video game for Xbox on Ebay because it's still too expensive at retail stores despite the game being relatively old. The price I paid was excellent and I had it shipped priority which put my purchase in hand three days after I paid for it, which was very nice.
Even with priority shipping the cost was still almost ten dollars less than any retail stores that carry the game near me.
The game itself is an outstanding action-adventure allowing players to choose from a huge lineup of heroes to form a custom team with which to play the adventure.
The quantity of heroes one has to choose from also gives this game more re-play value than many other games.
Any game that allows you to play the Silver Surfer, Thor and Wolverine at the same time gets two thumbs-up from me!
