    a good tool

    Created: 03/11/09
It is a very nice book to build up one's vocabulary. Most basic words are there. I found out I knew many words already, so I write down the ones I do not know and I try to memorize them. There is spelling beside each French word, which is useful. Also there are examples on how to use the words in sentences, and a section of prepositions and verbs - rare to find in that compact and easy to use format. Useful for school students to have more-less systematic approach in learning French and for self-study.

I didn't realize I was buying the 2nd Ed. of this book (I didn't know there was a 2nd Ed.). By all means, track down the earlier edition that was published inthe early to mid 1980s. Sorry, Barron's, the new edition is a lesser book.
