Album Notes
THE MATRIX was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Soundtrack Album. "Bad Blood" was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance. The futuristic sci-fi/action flick THE MATRIX features Keanu Reeves as the potential savior of the human race. Whatever one's feelings about this questionable casting decision, the film's soundtrack is an arresting collection that combines industrial with electronica-derived styles and a touch of good old hard rock. Ministry and Marilyn Manson represent the industrial end of the spectrum, while Propellerheads, Prodigy and Rammstein contribute electronic-based, beat-driven tunes that accentuate the film's future shock aspect. Rage Against the Machine closes things out with a characteristically driving rocker, "Wake Up," providing a cataclysmic ending to a soundtrack full of end-of-the-century weltschmerz.

Editorial Reviews
...six parts extreme metal from the likes of Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie, throw in some electronic mayhem from Propellerheads and Prodigy, add a pinch of Teutonic rage courtesy Rammstein, and voila' - you've got a potent musical Molotov cocktail... - Rating: B+

Blue for bliss or red for truth? Some of the greatest music that you will ever listen to again if you were old enough to remember when it came out. But did not pay much attention to the music. Now you can re-listen to the awesome music again with this cd. The music was way ahead of the time. And to the up and coming who did not hear this music originally go and listen to this. If you like rock music at any level most people should enjoy this music. I could have done the mp3 thing but wanted a hard copy for my library. Some songs are better than others; however, music like everything else is relative. The choice is yours. Which color will you chose?

From the turn of the century to now!

A great soundtrack to an exquisite film, that seemed to have nailed (exposed) the world in which we live. Though there were a few sequels, they were never up to snuff compared to the first film.

Last year was ten years since the film's release in theatres, so the remixed and enhanced sound adds so much to it. The genius of the Warchawski brothers really came through with the music selections, and each one is a gem!

I am a collector of soundtracks since '83. This soundtrack definitely had the same music from the movie. I do enjoy it even though it is bizarre but I do recommend having the soundtrack if you are a collector.
