Meade 70AZ-A 70mm Refractor Telescope

The Meade 70AZ-A Telescope was my first telescope ever. It took me a little time to get used to it but then I was hooked. It's addictive. On a cloudless night I start looking at the stars and I can't seem to walk away from it. The only thing I would want different would be a better mount. Once I get it locked onto an object, it tends to move just barely and it takes a little bit of working with it to get it to lock into place, after a while though you get used to that too. Regarding the camera that comes with it, you have to have a laptop because the cord goes from the telescope to your computer before you can take a picture. I can't wait til there is another comet, if there is gonna be one in my lifetime. I would truly get a big kick out of looking at one.I purchased this in the winter time and I will probably lose alot more sleep when the nights warm up a little.

Good telescope for viewing the moon, images are nice and clear for the money, takes a little time to adjust to the cold when it has been stored in the warmth all day. Looking at the stars you can detect some chromatic abberation and spherical abberation when looking for planets. The mount is not very sturdy at all picks up every little bump, finderscope is average, very hard to look at zenith comfortably when in the upright position and just forget about using the finderscope because you cant. Overall for a cheap telescope to just start looking at the stars its a good buy but holding off and spending some more money on a better telescope wouldnt be a bad idea either.

Very good product for a first price. Optical is sharp and rather bright. Good for terrestrial observation too. Comes with several accessories, as Barlow lens ... USB cam is sharp also, and the software allows many possible settings. I only regret the telescope has no universal mount screw, so that you cannot easily mount another tripod, but with some engeneering it may be possible (of course the less it shakes the better it is). Nevertheless, original tripod is not bad at all. So, you can use it for years (I use it for terrestrial obs.) to discover all remote details in your landscape. Funny .... Thanks !!!

I dicided to buy this telescope because it appeared simple to use. It is and does come with full instructions a kid can follow. THE IMAGE IS GREAT AND THE ABILITY TO TAKE PHOTOS OF WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING AT PUTS THIS TELESCOPE AS AN OVER-THE-TOP VALUE . THANKS

This is a good first scope, for your children or grandchildren. it is light enough for a child to control and learn the night sky with.

The eyepieces that come with this scope are of lower quality, but they do work.
overall, I would recommend this telescope to anyone wanting a good scope for their children.
