Mercenaries 2: World in Flames (Sony Playstation 3, 2008)

This game does exactly what it promises... Blowing stuff up. The game has an environment where nothing is safe from your will. You can call in massive air strikes destroying large oil rigs, or you can run into an enemy fortress like Rambo and shoot them all down.

The pros:

-Fully destructible environments
-A large variety of weapons
-Tons of customized vehicles

The cons:

-Driving controls don't utilize the triggers, instead you're limited to the X, Square, circle, and triangle buttons.
-There isn't really a stealth element, you can't really sneak into enemy bases without getting noticed instantly.

Overall, this game delivers what it promised, and will be fun to anybody who has played the original, or anyone who enjoys shooting up large groups of people. It has a decent sense of humor portrayed by the characters that will give you a good laugh or two. I'd recommend this to any fan of the genre.

2008 - Mercenaries 2: World in Flames is about blowing s*** up. If you don't like blowing s*** up, here's a deck of Uno cards. Now, if you're like me and you get a kick out of wrecking tanks, demolishing buildings, and setting the jungle ablaze, then Mercs 2 may be worthy of your attention. But be warned: there's a price to pay for the gift of tactical nukes and cruise missile strikes. For all the unadulterated joy of blowing s*** up, there's a mess of bugs and AI issues that may just turn you even more violent than usual.

At the start, you choose to play as one of three characters -- Mattias Nilsson, Jennifer Mui, or Chris Jacobs. Each has his or her own unique traits. Jen, for example, is a bit speedier than the boys. These slight differences from one to the next don't have a major impact on the game. Neither do they offer new gameplay choices, though there are a few minor dialogue alterations for each. Whomever you choose, the end result is a mercenary willing to kill anyone and destroy anything for the right amount of money.

READ THIS BEFORE PLAYING....TRUST ME!!!! really good game...make sure you disable your internet connection before you start playing because the game will try to connect to EA servers for online play....those servers dont service this game anymore and will try till the end of time if you let it....trust me this will save you alot of time i tried everything to get around it and checked so many places....just stick to the story mode because online play wont work anymore and the game will freeze and not let you do anything until you reset and disable internet connection....then you'll be fine....other then that like i said really good game....its extremely hard to find a third person shooter of this caliber....only other i would recommend is freedom fighters for ps2....the support options for weapons drops and ordinance etc could be a little better configured....little hard to scroll down a menu for an air strike when people are shooting at you and you might throw the smoke grenade marker in the wrong place if your not facing the right direction when you select what you want for support.....hope this was useful...have fun

This game has tons of action and adventure if your a fan of the grand theft auto games then ull love this game its alot like that with a military twist u can do missions and progress through the game or just wonder around the huge world finding spare parts to build exotic vehicles of all kinds with or search for huge stacks of money for profit, weapons, vehicles, etc. or search for ammunition's for airstrikes, artillery strikes, guided strikes, etc. or if you want you can just roam around destroying buildings, vehicles, and pretty much anything and everything the game has a lot of options for 'things to do' other then just the story line this is great game worth hours of fun i highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking of purchasing it but if your unsure as too if you want it or not check out the demo on the playstation network for free then decide :)

Play good , bad, or simply just blow everything to bits... Fun game, just like the previous mercenaries. You get contracted on action pack missions to help which ever side pays the bucks. Lots of cool vehichles and even more deadlier weapons. Take over vehicles and ambush the enemies. Lots of action and a must-have shooter.
