Movie synopsis
The story of a long distance love connection that is made when Penn, a Chicago journalist, discovers a love letter that Costner, a widowed sailboat repairer, let drift into the ocean. She quickly tracks him down and an honest bond forms between the two. When he discovers that she hasn't been entirely honest with him, the betrayal threatens to ruin what has been, so obviously up to this point, a wonderful, romantic thing.

) I read the book and besides crying like a baby at the end, I also fell in love with the characters. Seriously one of my favorite stories by Nicholas Sparks and I was soooooo excited to see the movie. However, I was a little disappointed. The acting was great all around, but the film just did not do the book justice. There were too many noticeable changes and although Robin Wright Penn's acting was good, she was nothing like what I pictured Theresa Osborne to be. Paul Newman played the role as the scene stealer beautifully--but come on...it's Paul Newman, should we be surprised that he plays any role beautifully? And Kevin Costner did a wonderful job playing the widower Garrett.
Could the movie have been better? I think so. Yet, overall the movie was good and I would recommend people to see it.

Stellar performances by Kevin Costner, Robin Wright Penn and Paul Newman. I've seen all movies made based on books by Nicholas Sparks and advise anyone to watch them all!!

) EXCELLENT movie! Tear jerker too! Kevin Costner was awesome in this movie, as usual and the movie took a couple of good twists and turns. AWESOME!
